Ive been contacted by a company who gives seminars in many different companies about the limits of the mind and what human mind can achieve,we had a meeting and discussed about many things, they want me to give a speech as well as perform some effects along with some subtle-teachins to encourage people,I am prepared for it but I would like to read any good source about corporate mentalism or hear advices of those who work in such situations.
The only source I am familiar with for corporate mentalism is 'mentalism incorporated' what else would be benefical for me? thanks. |

The key to these types of events is to think big, so any mentalism idea can be transformed into a larger demonstration. Progressive anagrams can be done with corporate slogans and catchphrases on power point...Bill Cushman's Subliminal Squares can be done with powerpoint...Lior Manor's mobile opener is great. I also like Doug Dyment's Stimulacra, which has some great things in it.
But really, you just need to think how you can apply mentalism principles to larger groups.... |

First off, try not to think of it as "corporate entertaining," as you are, ultimately, entertaining people, not an entity. Seems obvious, but it's a common misunderstanding.
So, the basic rules of entertaining apply (routine selection, scripting, pacing, etc.), all carefully set within the client's specific needs/theme and the parameter of the gig (venue, audience size, circumstance, etc.) Aside from routine/material on corporate work, there are many books/essays offering excellent suggestions on other aspects of this category of client, from dress to protocols: Osterlind, Herz, Weber, and, of course, Hichok (strongly recommend his sequel), are a few good ones providing myriad ideas and suggestions. |

Marc Paul has a DVD
that is about Corporate Trade Shows he sells it throught his page is excellent to change your mind from (i think it was his words) ¨simple magician¨ to an asset to the organization. do a memory demostration and teach simple mnemonics, do a kurutsuke routine based on the who´s lying or not... stuff like that have a good one |

I think this is different. This company do seminars. Find out the following:
Who do they do these seminars for? How are they judged on the sucess or not? Are they for sales people? Customer services management general employees? Then find out why they are hired by the companies you will be performing for. Once you get all this info you then need to do some research. The company may be able to give you some of the material they developed. Or more than likely you will have to get a few books on the subjects needed. You will need to research them and create a motivational presentation that would work alone without the mentalism. The mentalism should be kept to a minimum. In short you need to find out what who the seminar is for and what it is meant to achieve. Then work backwards. This doesn't sound like a tradeshow and any info about tradeshows would be useless in this situation. A trade show is designed to get leads by creating an attraction around a trade booth. This I would guess is to increase moral, productivity, sales or something along these lines. You need to be conversant in these subjects. Part of the problem is mentalism is about being a fake mind expert. If you want to do seminars you have to move towards being knowledgable to a certain extent if not indeed a genuine expert. |

Well what I would do if I were you is create a seminar based upon motivation and using your mind to be more successful. A sort of advanced goal setting seminar based upon visualisation techniques. I would get some books do searches on the net and find people who are already doing this. And lift and adapt some of their material to start with.
I would try and guide them away from using you as an example. Instead I would put together a programme lasting an hour or whatever they require. I would use a few mentalism effects to 'illustrate' the points. I wouldn't claim it was real or give a disclaimer. I would frame the mentalism parts as a bit of fun with a serious point to it. And this is what you do as an entertainer. The seminar should be about motivating people to be more productive happy ans successful/positive. They should leave having been entertained and re-energized. You need to get hold of material to this with. You should also include a few exercises that everyone can take part in and get an experience from. I think this is a great opportunity for you to break into corporate motivational speaking. But you need to put a little work into it. It won't do just to present a few effects. Perhaps a start would be to sit in on their programmes. |
