We all know that women make up 80% of cold reading patrons give or take a few points but does anyone know of any other demographics concerning them? Household income? Married vs.single? Ethnic groups? Religious backgrounds?
It would make for fascinating reading.

No easy answers. Rocketeer! Depends very much on where you are. (I'd make the female percentage of clients closer to 90%!)
One location will be mostly small town women - who work - and who are having problems with their underemployed boyfriends who borrow money and drink. Other locations will bring in educated professional women who want to discuss complex corporate career politics. Another place will be the more traditional family mums who are having some of the usual existential, husband or teen aged children problems. I also find that there are some varying expectations based on the culture that your clients grew up in. 'Psychic' to some people definitely includes bringing messages from long departed relatives. Then again, to some it's similar to how I might loosely define 'intuition.' Although there certainly are some recurring human stories, it's not quite as simple and cut and dried as some of the 'cold reading' books might make it seem. How nice that would be - how easy it would be - if it were so! Only a LOT of experience will really help - many hundreds of readings. Even then, you should focus completely on that particular client across your table. She will have things in common with previous clients, but is still a unique person with her own history and point of view. You should work on being fully conscious and reading HER. Start with her and then add in your experience rather than starting with biased expectations and narrowing that down based on the client. That's an awkward couple of sentences. Perhaps I might say to start with the client and work outward as opposed to starting with old stories and trying to fit one or two of them onto your client. brane |

Some things they all have in common:
- They all love shoes - a fairly safe bet. - They are mindful of their appearance and most want to lose weight. Be sensitive! - You can bet they had or have a pet, often a cat. You can "sense" a connection to a cat, then if you miss you can always play up the spirit animal angle. Equivocation rocks. - You can bet they love animals. - Many enjoy horseback riding, although they don't get to do it as often as they would like. - Dan |

Women are all romantics at heart, it is both their strength and their weakness.
Somehow play with that.

Pakar in a reading the other day a told a woman she is a romantic at heart. It was a killer line.
Another that killed was, "If I could find one fault with you it's that you're beautiful but you don't know how beautiful you are." Slayed the chick. I think it's from King of the Cold Readers.
