Some time ago I bought a used prop from the main magic auction site, a fish aquarium production item I had often had my eye on. I got it for less than 50% because it was advertised as having a crack. Turns out that when it got to me in shipping, an entire piece was off the side. I have the whole piece. The corners are all intact, the piece comes from the middle.
I want to attempt to glue it back in place, but it needs to be watertight and clear drying. I have worked with marine grade sealant before, and that bubbles up a lot. Is my attempt a pipe dream? Small quantity that won't bubble out, clear and watertight? |

Are we sure that it's plexiglass or maybe Lexan. Sometimes the solvents for plexi and Lexan are all you need to re-attach...waterproof too. Since the solvents are clear the repair should be next to invisible.
Just a thought.

How hard would it be to just replace the piece of plexy??

I guess replacing the whole piece would make sense. I doubt it's lexan, but it could be. It seems to have zero flexibility, whereas the lexan I have worked with before for framing seems very flexible. But then again, if it all looks the same, and I can use watertight sealant, why not? The piece of this that matters in magical terms is the base, so I suppose that might work.
I feel more confident that this may not be as complicated as I had assumed. Thanks gentlemen. |

Go to your pet store that sells fish tanks. They have repair kits that will glue, seal and water proof. You will probably need some of this sealant even if you replace the whole piece.
