Hi,
I'm trying to make a list of all the funny ingredients for a baking the cake routine. 1. Flour = flower 2. Cocca = 3. Sugar = 4. Milk = 5. Water = What are the others? |

There is a wonderful routine for exactly this in Martin Lewis' book, "Open Sesame." We adapted a version of it for one of our Circus Routines.
Something to keep in mind is that inconrgruities in ingredients can provide humour as well. |

My favorite ingredient is 'Toothpaste'
That's so you can clean your teeth at the same time as you're eating.

Don't forget:
1)'Dates' (cut pieces from a calendar. 2) 'Nuts' (a few nuts from metal nuts and bolts) 3) 'Saltanas' (sawdust sounds similar) 4) 'Dish Cleaner' (so that the pan will clean itself after cooking) 5) 'about 10 Bananas' (multiplying sponge bananas [Dan Garrett]) 6) 'clockwork Chatter Teeth' (so that the cake is pre-chewed) 7) 'a couple of Candles' (to grease the pan' 8) 'Smiley Man picture' (so that you will enjoy your cake) 9) ... to be continued... Catsup
Mustard -- use the plastic bottles that squirt the correct color string. A milk carton with a "moo" can glued inside.

Just curious...have you guys ever used a cupcake pan? I haven't actually used one in a show, but I found that if you put too much in the bottom, the top pan sits too high and there is a gap between the two. So adding all those ingredients must be done with a little as possible. It's hard to know when to stop adding!

Are there any dove pans with a shallower fake than the bottom?

I use Oil - Baby Magic Oil (With lighter fluid in a used bottle)
When I had a egg, I use a blown egg shell and pretend to add it. Afterwards I crumple up the shell and toss it into the pan too. (Always gets a good reaction) Brad

I use the catsup bottle and a small Hellman's Mayonaise jar emptied and painted white inside with two small spring snakes.

I don't actually add anything to the pan when I've used it. All the ingredients are pretend and somewhat goofy. Like the Catsup and Mustard, salt( with the lid covered with plastic so nothing comes out, milk carton with the Moo can inside, flour (flower). I only use this for very young audiences, so its basically all about dressing up the volunteer and adding the crazy ingredients.

I love this thread. I use a Duck pan to produce my rabbit....and I use all pretend ingredients, so that the birthday child is holding the pan (actually just touching it underneath, while I hold the pan) when the rabbit is revealed. I never thought to use wilder ingredients (though I do use the flower/flour gag)
I will try some of these at my next shows (3 tomorrow) |
