I'm going to be performing an outdoor show soon. I'm going to do the same show I normally do. Is there any worries with natural sunlight causing a problem? Are some effects just not meant for outdoors? Or can any effect work outdoors as well as indoors? I'm going to be starting with a silk to cane, rope to silk and gloves to streamer. Then the rest of the effects are silk through mirror, magic coloring book/vanishing crayons, vanishing bandanna, sucker die box and snowstorm in china as a closer. I usually include a D'Lite routine, but this will obviously not work in strong sunlight. However, are the other effects good for outdoors? (My main concerns are appearing cane, silk through mirror, vanishing crayons, and vanishing bandanna.)

Sunlight shouldn't be a problem but wind will! Make sure everything is secured and can't be blown off or out of a table.
There are many effects that need some lighting control and aren't as effective in daylight but the ones you described sound fine.

Okay, thanks! I've got small paper weights to hold items down.

Sunlight will yellow some white plastics. I found that out when I set a fanned plastic set of Sidewalk Shuffle cards on a table, that was hit by sunlight in the course of the day. Anyone want to buy a set of cards with tanlines?! Now, I stick with the cardboard set.

If you are doing the snowstorm outdoors as yr closer make sure the wind doesn't come and spoilt the effect.

I was thinking about the wind being my means of spreading the flakes everywhere! Might be a nice touch?

Oh it would be so nice if the wind behaves! Sometimes it will and other times...
Once I was doing a snowstorm outside and a strong gust from Stage Right meant that the paper went up about one foot and took a sharp left! A real..no-effect moment!
