Thanks, but now I am even more confused than before.
I do mainly close-up at tables and the bar. Is there one more suitable than the other?
I am getting so tired of slitting the throats of people who say that I am a violent psychopath.

I forgot to say, my little belt gizmo will work with out a belt too, just reposition the velcro and it catches invisibly on the pant.

Kissdadookie, has a clever idea for gluing the lip balm, I did this with the first one, but found it tough to remove when need be. it is a toss up, of a spec pushing the bottom and a bit of risk or ease of use, after doing this a few hundred times, I never had a spec push the bottom, I think that some of the mini sticks are tighter than others, and that may be the reason it can be pushed up, but for me, I need fast easy access.

If you want photos of this, PM me with an email.
Due to the Velcro , it can be adjusted, I tried the pouch and had 2 problems, one is the need to adjust the power to go thru more material, and two, to attach it was not as fast and easy, if you can imagine how this works, with it hooked up as in the photo, and the receiver in place behind the belt, then push the plastic from the top, down between the pant and belt, then the plastic can catch the belt and keep it in place, all is behind the belt, in front of the pant, and if you look in the mirror you will see a tiny bit of the plastic just at the bottom of the belt and a tiny bit of Velcro that goes over the top of the pant, , also if you don't wear a belt, then you can shorten up the Velcro and the plastic will catch the top of the pants and you can use it there with Prox and MD, and not need to change the power setting.in the photo of my pants you can see it in place, for this one I used a clear plastic, so it would show up in the photo, In performance I use the same set up only I painted it black, and the receiver sits perfectly in place. |

Yup, some of them are easier to push than others. They don't even do it on purpose, it just naturally gets push up. Better safe than sorry. Good thing battery life is excellent and it has a power saving feature so there's very little need to take Prox out of the lip balm container after you've had it properly tuned.
Slyhand, for a fact Proximity is excellent for both close up and even bigger venues (thanks to the adjustable range). Alone so far from the demos look like it works well in both close up and bigger venues as well. They are two very different things though. There's quite a number of things that Prox will allow you to perform in insanely clean fashion which Alone would not be able to do but there's routines (like the thought of card routine in the second Alone demo) which Prox would not be able to achieve but Alone can. It is very confusing especially when one thinks that the two products are comparable. Luckily the easy answer is that they are two very different products and it comes down to exactly WHAT your expectations are. It would be much easier to answer your inquiry if you could give some examples of what you are planning to perform with either Prox or Alone. By the way, I totally fried a few more people with Prox last night I just performed a simple one object which hand is it in routine. I've stumbled across a little piece of psychological ploy that worked out really well last night as well. The first try I had them say no regardless if the object is in X hand or not. The second try I had them say no but silently in their mind. The third try I asked them to be silent and that I wasn't going to ask them any questions and they can freely decide to think yes or no, to think in lies or think truthfully. Obviously I still nailed it but the little piece of patter is as follows: "That's interesting. At first you were thinking it's in the hand but after I said that you can freely think of yes or no, you decided to lie and pretend it's not in that hand. It's in that hand, please open it up." It's a fun little bit of patter to milk the it for all it's worth at the end. If the hand being referred to is empty, one would obviously adjust the patter accordingly, etc. |

I wanted to give Craig a big shout out! We had talked over the phone about different ideas in which to put the tags in and I liked a certain object in which to tag, but it didn't come with the package. Craig made me up 2 of these for a phenominal price and they are perfect!! I won't say what they are or the price as I don't want him to be flooded with requests to make them for everyone as it is time consuming. But could start making them and I believe they would fly off the shelves in no time flat!
Thanks again Craig for the awesome customer service and I really appreciate that you're available to converse over the phone and have a willingness to help with ideas and such. I only have two words to say "YOU ARE TOTALLY AWESOME AND YOU ROCK!!" ok, it was more than two words, sorry

I have had Proximity since the first week in September. I have had the chance to put it through the paces. This is a wonderful product. It is rare that I get excited over any product these days. Proximity has me very excited.
I have tried almost everything out there (Child’s Play, Midas, Probe, Relic, Eye to Eye, etc.) for a which hand type effect. Each of the methods had something to disqualify it for my needs. In some cases it was too much setup, sometimes unreliable, in other cases it just didn’t fit my performance style. Only two of the products Proximity and the Relic have found a place in my performance repertoire. Craig’s attention to detail is evident. He went beyond the obvious application and really thought about how to implement the technology. For such a small device you really get a lot of options. I will not detail them here but know that you will have a lot of control over how you use this. I used Proximity on the Midnight Madness show at the recent TAOM Convention in Houston, TX. In addition I have performed Proximity probably 100 times for different ages and different venues. In every instance this has worked above my expectation. Beyond the which hand effect the Proximity kit has many applications. It is also just plain fun to work with. So Craig, if you are reading this, thank you for a wonderful system and for the excitement your product has given me. I really appreciate it. If you are sitting on the fence go ahead and make the purchase. You will be pleased. And you couldn’t ask for a nicer guy than Craig to deal with. ~ Dan |

For all you Proximity users out there especially in the UK who maybe looking for some decent and MORE importantly correct size Stash Lighters for your Proximity Tag(s). I have spoken personally with Craig about this and it was himself who recommended I post this here on the Café so I have his full permission and am not stepping on his toes in anyway. I like many LOVE Proximity and when mine shipped Craig had unfortuantley run out of lighters so kindly shipped my Proximity with the chapstick option as Craig himself was struggling to locate just the right lighters in the States.
After some research and buying several kinds of Stash Lighters I finally came across the perfect lighter, it is Clipper Style and still has the realistic bottom unlike many others I purchased with strange threaded bottoms (hard to cut down) and blank coloured bottoms which look very suspicious. So now I have located the perfect lighter (of which I am going to supply Craig with two outter cases so good news for new Proximity purchasers) I went about cutting the lighters down to just the right length to fit in the hand and also gimmicked the lighter so removal of the fake bottom was easier and smoother. So if your interested and live in the UK nothing personal to anyone else especially you guy in the States as it would probably be easier to contact Craig as cheaper shipping costs etc. (If your really struggling etc just PM and I will sort you out!!!)I will supply a lighter(s) already gaffed and resized, with smotther opening and cotton wool so Tag does not shake around. For only £3.00 plus P&P I can also just supply the lighter ungaffed original size which work well with Craigs II for £2.50 plus P&P PM me if interested. And LASTLY if you don't have Proximity stop reading this and go and visit Craig and buy it infact buy all his products as they truley are the best out there and as we say in England he is a TRUE GENT!!! |

I rudley forgot to mention a big NOD goes out to Mindyourmagic who was the FIRST to come up with the lighter idea and posted some really helpful tips and pics on Craigs forum for Proximity users!!! Credit where Credit is due!!! I don't claim to be any kind of original creator etc... Just offering the lighters to users as I know it took me some looking to actually find a lighter that looked realistic and was easily gaffed for Proximity. ;-)

Thanks for the nod mentalis. You might want to try out the mini floss containers too, I posted photos of thes on Craig's forum.
I have been working with Proximity since the mk1 prototypes and I can honestly say that Craig has converted me. I wouldn't use electronics at one point, things are different now... Bri |

Proximity is definitely the best bang for your mentalist buck.
It is flawless and brilliant. I have been working with 2 tags and now I am ready to try 2 more. Craig continues to slay us with his top-notch products and customer service. Eric |

No probs Bri, I was just so happy to obtain the correct lighter I bought an outer box so thought I would offer some up here on the Café for a fair price!!! Love the floss idea too. Yeah I have always loved electronics in magic BUT never have I been so happy with a magic product than Craigs, his customer service which I am sure I am repeating many other threads is Top Notch his products are light years ahead and one thing I noticed doesn't get a mention much BUT Craigs items are small and totally wireless as well SO my jacket and all other electronic gizzmo's are now well and truely redundant at LONG LAST!!! Bri Craig is really busy at the mo with orders etc and he did mention in an e-mail to say to you it is OK if you wanted to supply me with your carnarge routine, would that me ok Bri, you can PM me if you want and in return I will tell you something I have been working on for Proximity which I am quite excited about, I have the first proto-tyoe made and just testing I'll let you in on it as a return favor mate, I am hoping to send the final version to Craig for him to play with, it's just quite labour intensive at the moment!!! ;-)

Just reading my above thread, seemed to me I was rather rude and seemed to be having a one on one conversation on a forum, so many appologies, when I get this Proto-Type up and running for Proximity I may share it here and even offer it, if I can nail it and cut the labour times down.

I've posted a link to video instructions on constructing a stash lighter with Bic lighters. The bottom also "locks" and has a secret mechanism to pop it open. If only I had a workbench and a hacksaw to make one. I think the link is floating around somewhere on this thread.

Mentalis, I thought that should have been a PM too
I answered regarding the Carnage routine and the availability of the lighters a long time ago on the promystic forum, remember? Also, when I get time I will take some photos of something else I use with Craig's gear and post them on the forum to share with all users... |
