This is about as bad as they get and I don't really mind as long as most of the decks are better than this. I would hesitate to use cards like this for some things (packet tricks, effects with DLs, making D-facers...), but a few decks like this here and there isn't the end of the world as long as you need decks for practice as well. Regarding Fournier cards however, I have yet to see a Fournier deck which is even slightly off center. That also goes for other European brands like Piatnik or Carta Mundi. They also make huge amounts of cheap cards. Click here to view attached image.

I bought a gross of the Gold Seals. Like Chris, I've only had one deck that I had problems with. Ironically, it was the first deck I opened. I've been through about one brick and can say, that I really enjoy the cards.
I ordered one brick of the Fournier 605's. I'll probably open a couple of the decks and keep the rest in my playing card collection. As said above, I think the Fournier 605's price will keep them as a novelty/collector item only (at least for me). As long as the Gold Seal Bicycle's stay reasonably priced then I will contintue to use them for a long time to come. |

Thanks for the come-back, Chris, Noobini and JordanB, I'll pass your comments along to Richard; he enjoys "reading" these threads.

I do expect premium grade cards to be cut on-center. After years in the printing industry professionally, I don't find high-volume an excuse for what I would consider shoddy craftsmanship. I do understand that my WalMart bikes can't be expected to be held to the same standards as a custom order such as the Gold Standards; but, doesn't even the name imply a better-than-average quality?
Here's the last deck of Gold Standards I purchased... photo And some bad Tally-Ho's too: photo Maybe I haven't purchased enough Gold Standards to be a judge of overall consistency; but, my first impression was enough to prevent me personally from buying more. -A |

I have yet to have an issue with the gold seal cards. I will have to re-check my stock. Then again, if they are off center, its by a small amount. The over all feel of the cards are enough for me.

I have to say that after a good deal of use I am really starting to fall in love with the Asher Fourniers as well! They do indeed handle a lot better after a week of use and show no signs of any real wear.
They are still not flourishy cards in any great way, but are quite frankly phenomenal for a good deal of magic purposes where most USPCC cards simply feel too slippery. I wouldn't be surprised if I end up buying a small stash of these after all.

I have bought cards from all over the world as I know most of you have and haven't found any, even the wonderful Paginas magian series made by Founjier to have registration problems. However I also wonder if they do it intentionally so we magicians have an innocent one way deck?
My only beef with Richard's deck is the sticker on the box.....which is a bear to remove! |

I finally broke down and got a couple decks of 605s. Well, good and bad. First off, the cards and the box are a work of art. Some sleights flow beautifuly. Doubls, triples, tabled doubles, 2nds, side steal and DPS are smooth as butter. On the downside, I've been playing with them for several hours and can NOT get a faro. They do seem to hold up nicely, not splitting when I try to weave and it won't work, (like others do.) I'll probably end up with a brick just as collectors, they are beautiful and kudos to Lee for trying something different. However, I think I'll stick with my Turners, Arrcos, and Wynns.

Pepka, I would rate their Faroability very close to the Turner cards. They are even good for Table Faros. You should keep at it until you find the knack.
Although the 605s handled better after a week of use, like I said in my previous post, I did not find them to last much longer than other cards. After they became more pliable, they soon became too clumpy to spread or to cull comfortably. So I'm back to feeling that they are too expensive to be a real contender for my use. With the customs and international shipping, each deck clocked in at $19.38 for me, based on a 5 deck purchase. Which means that I'm also back to my Turner Bikes that in addition to everything else have the wonderful property of coming in blue and red.

Do the 605s handle the same as 505s or is there a difference between them ?

In other ways perfect for Table Faros where the weave has to begin on the bottom of the packets. The 605s are also a tad thicker and seem to have a different coating.
