I was hoping somebody here might have had experience in building one of those strength testers you see at carnivals and fairgrounds. The kind with the tall board and the bell at the top, with a box consisting of a base with a wooden peg that is struck with a mallet.
I consider myself pretty good with wood and metal work, its more the mechanism at the bottom I'm trying to suss to give the best effect. If anybody has a diagram of any sort I'd be very grateful for your help. Many thanks in advance Mark

Thanks for your help Shomemagic, will certainly look into that. I only knew it as a "strength-tester-type-thingy-with-a-bell"! If anybody else has information on the mechanism I'd be very grateful.

Just did a bit of searching. Here's the Wikipedia entry that should detail most of the construction specs:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_striker And here's a link from there to the 'mechanics' of a rigged version: http://blog.modernmechanix.com/2006/06/1......striker/ Is that what you're looking for? -Erik
