On any item I sell I buy the tracking for it, if the item sells for over $50.00 I buy Ins. for it. In doing so I know the item got there and if it was damaged the buy can regain his cost.
I just figure the cost into what my lowest price will be on the item. They guy paid for the hat and you threw in the wand, he got what he paid for, and you went way out of your way to make it right. John

You can get proof of postage but that doesn't mean you put said item in the parcel. Happened to me once and received my money back from paypal when the seller only put in half of what he was supposed to. Paypal sides with the buyer not the seller.
You have done more than enough with the free item. |

Folks should be upfront with mailing stuff, the IRS, etc. There is a theory that people treat Gov't agencies like they were their parents when they were kids and try to get away with stuff. And...in the end, you get away with nothing and make it worse.
Thus end'th the lesson for today.

It doesn't sound like you promised that the wand would arrive at the same time. As long as he gets the wand (eventually) you fulfilled the obligation.

If the wand wasn't a part of the original sale and you were throwing it in for free, the buyer really shouldn't have anything to complain about. He should have just let it go and been satisfied he got the item he paid for.

Was this the David Ginn "Invisible wand"? Is that why he couldn't see it?
I go with refunding the cost of the wand! Some people just expect more than they should! You bent over backwards to give something for free! Here is a TIP (nope not a thumb one or the "don't drop when juggling fire" tip) another tip - Next time don't disclose the free extra before the item arrives! Then they get a nice supprise when they open the package! Unless its anthrax or a parcel of snakes or something! (unless they are a microbiologist or a snake nut then thoes may be ok!) |
