The Pop Haydn Medicine Show gave it's first performance at the Laugh Factory in Hollywood on June 16, 2009.

Here are some video clips from that show featuring Sophie Evans, Rob Zabrecky, Antonio Hoyos, Phil Van Tee, myself and Dave Bourne and the Medicine Show Band:

Extremely impressive professionalism.

It is very humbling for me to see you offering this quality of performance (and it's not like if I had not been constantly working at improving my own.) The only reassuring aspect is that I'll never be finished enjoying the improvements that I run across...

Hello Whit
Much thanks for posting the videos! Really enjoyed watching them.

Great concept and execution. The costuming is excellent. Lot to enjoy about the show. Always enjoy the psudeo smooth talking/well spoken, have to pay attention to catch the nuances humor. Mixed with the obvious and call backs you worked it really well.

Watching someone who can get an entire room to laugh from a single facial expression is amazing (regardless of the set up to get there).

Was great to see the Laugh Factory filled for The Pop Haydn Medicine Show

Didn't see much of the Candy Girls ;-) on the video ah ha ha ha

Looks like the stage was on the small side at the Laugh Factory.

Regrettably this was the first time I have seen Sophie Evans work. Looks like she has chops. Was waiting for her to get over a little more on "The Great Antoine"

Rob Zabrecky did a nice turn as well.

So where does the show go next? Looking forward to seeing further adventures.

Best Wishes,
Vick

Sophie has a lot of chops. She is excellent at both stage and close-up magic, and has a wonderful fire magic act, which we couldn't use at the Laugh Factory because of the proximity to the audience. She and Antonio Hoyos work regularly with my friend Kevin James' show. Antonio volunteered to join us at the last minute when we realized that Sophie couldn't do her fire stuff. He was great, and we really appreciate having a performance so perfect for the Vaudeville theme we were trying to establish.

Rob Zabrecky is just fantastic. I am a big fan of his, and of Phil Van Tee as well. We really had a blast doing this show.

The stage was very small and limiting.

But our show is very modular and can be reduced to just me and the band, or easily expanded to a full-stage two and 1/2 hour show.

We don't need costumes, sets or rehearsals. Variety is actually very practical.

We want to eventually do a regular show at a vaudeville theater downtown.

That was a blast to watch Whit. Though it seemed to take forever to load it was well worth it.
All the performers were great and quite different from each other which gave a lot of shade and light to the show. Very enjoyable.

We will be doing the show again on November 20-21 at the High Street Arts Center, a restored 1927 vaudville house. It is a beautiful 270 seat theater, just two blocks easy walking distance from an Amtrak/Metrolink station in a lovely little town. It is the perfect location for our two-hour show.

We will be adding "The King of Fling"--Knife and Tommyhawk throwing expert Jack Dagger and his lovely and daring assistant Tonya Kay, and the acrobatics and juggling and expert Bull-Whip artistry of Farrah Siegel.

Tickets are available beginning September 20 at:

Thank you for posting it, the performers were all great and I love the pitch. I'm ordering some Smile
There were to many good parts to have a favorite, but the "Placebo Indians" was way up there.

Really enjoyed this, I love the period feel and the old time variety show concept. I wonder, Whit, if you ever saw a 1960s (70s) British TV show called, 'The Good Old Days'? The approach was very similar; it was broadcast from an old Victorian Theatre. I could imagine shows of a similar style being produced in this newly restored Vaudeville Theatre.
Keep up the good work! Real entertainment and very much a cure for our 21st. Century ills.
I met this chap at the Olympics. I said to him, "Excuse me but are you a pole vaulter?" he replied "No, I'm German, but how did you know my name was Walter?"

Hi Whit
I just had a wee surf around and discovered that The Good Old Days show was around a lot longer than I realized, it ran from 1953 to 1983 in fact. There are a number of clips on youtube:

Hope this is of interest.
All the best
Alex
