Anyone know the kind of Dove Amazing Johnathan uses when he makes it appear and then smashes it causing feathers to fly around?

I've seen his live performance in Vegas, as well as his specials on Comedy Central.

I suspect(because I don't know for certain) it's some kind of rubber material with a few loose feathers around it. When he does the "smash", you actually see him moving the pan or what hand in different situations to cause the feathers to fly around. I'm guessing it's easily replicable using a white balloon and shaping it a certain way.
