I keep my coins (Morgans/Walkers) in zippered leatherette cases made by Case Logic. The cases have 3 pockets on each side and were made to hold memory cards & etc. I bought mine at Walmart for $4 each. One of my cases holds 9 dollar size coins and could hold 3 more easily. There's even a belt-loop on the back side of the case in case you want to save your pants pockets for other gaffs.

Check out the Case Logic case for carrying memory cards at Walmart. It will hold six sets of coins and costs $4.00. It even has a loop for attachment to a belt. It's in the camera section.

I had Roy Kueppers make one of these for me a few years ago. I love it for storing my coins and gaffs. Half dollars and dollars. Great for traveling, too.

Roy is a great craftsman....I have some great gaffs from him!

Hey Wizard and Sammy- I may have to check those out. The Fabric: Faux Leather part scares me a bit. I'm told that unless it's real leather, bristol silver will tarnish a lot. My Morgan gaffs and coins are next to uncirculated 1800s. Have either of you stored gleaming silver in these for a long time?

Your hands will tarnish the silver coins. So, don't worry about it too much!

I have not stored silver coins in the CaseLogic case. It's funny, Christian, I was told that storing coins in a leather purse WILL cause them to tarnish! I was told this by Jamie Schoolcraft. He said to use a lined purse like the JOL ones. Conflicting information!

I have four Case Logic cases, and have my Morgans and Walking Liberties stored in them with no appreciable increase in tarnish. Silver, brass, and copper will tarnish without any help from storage methods by just being exposed to the atmosphere. Some materials may speed up the the oxidation process, but where ever you store your silver coins, they will tarnish over a period of time. Handling them will obviously speed up the process.

Actually if you handle your silver coins a lot they will not tarnish. If you do not handle them they will tarnish. The opposite holds true for copper coins.

Real man coin wallet is pretty good, nice leather, and it has a slot for holding the gaff coin to steal into the set.

The best modern coin purses I saw that correspond exactly to Meshuggina's request was offered to me by Eric Jones who was selling them at the WMS in March for very little money. Since he is a member here, you may want to send him a PM

This is gonna seem weird, but I made a coin...holder pouch thingy??...over a year ago from a couple of playing cards and it still holds up quite well. It is good because I can open it and remove a specific coin from it, all from inside my pocket. So it seems like I am just taking a coin out of my pants pocket, but really I am choosing the coin and protecting them at the same time. I have been carrying this one around everyday for a year, so it looks a little grubby and needs replacing, but you get the idea. (Which, by the way, is another use for those old worn out decks)

I have tried the case logic...case, and it's great, but the coins are loose in the sleeves so that is where I just store all of my coins, I also tried a Lowe Pro memory card hold (a neoprene model), but it is too bulky for me and again I use it for storage. I have hand stitched my own out of leather and lined it with a faux velvet...I still carry this one occasionally as well.

pics of the leather case (I since have learned how to stitch the leather better, but oh well):

Whaaa? Evidence Gary! Smile (I handle my silver coins a lot and they tarnish along the edge of the face and back).

Anybody have any experience with Bob Kohler's new coins wallet?

It looks pretty cool but very pricey...

Googled it and couldn't find it. Do you have a link?

I use one of these purses. It has a hinged opening that snaps open when you press on opposing edges. It easily carries 11 half dollar sized coins in it and two casino dice. (Bob Sheets' It's the Rules is one of my new favorites)The bag keeps the casino dice from cutting my leg ... man those edges are sharp.

Sometimes I carry an okito box in here as well. (Placing 4 of the coins inside the box)

Nuther vote for memory chip cases. I love the Lowepro product from Bestbuy:

Look at view #2 and you see how they hold the coins safe and protected. There is a velcro strap on the back also. I have one for halves, one for Morgans and one for copper/silver/brass coins.

Dang it .. can't edit a post after I wait a while.

I forgot to mention. I purchased my coin purse at a local flea market. I normally hit all the leather shops I come across and have found several interesting cases. The coin purses are normally around wallets, fanny packs, and biker gear... so basically with that type of selection I am set for the weekend.
