Hi eveyone
Does anyone know where I can find info on makeing latex puppets ? Id like to give it a try but I don't know what materials I would need ive looked into monster mask makeing but I don't know if those supplies would work for puppets. Any help would be great. Thank you Billy |

Well the techniques are about the same as mask making..but do one thing before you start..go to http://www.axtell.com and you will see you can get GREAT puppets and save yourself the time. The cost of materials will be more then getting a finished puppet from Steve.
I have made masks and molds for makeup fx and for a latex puppet...I go to Steve myself. Worth the money and great puppets. Just my 2 coppers however. |

Hi ChrisJ thank you for the reply axtell makes great looking latex puppets but I just want to learn how to make them.Right now I only make hard figures and I have some ideas for figures that would work better in latex.
Im just trying to figure how to do the casting is it just regular plaster ? Also whats a good safe latex to use ? Thanks Billy |

Although I have no desire to make these, I decided to see just how easy it would be to find the info. After all, Google can lead to answers to just about any question in the galaxy.
I typed in "How to make a latex puppet", and got a multitude of hits ! There is a DVD out by the lady who created the puppets for MTV's Celebrity Deathmatch, on how to make latex puppets. There also appears to be some online articles on making latex puppet heads, which is what it sounds like you wish to do. Go to Google, and type in your request. I am sure you will be amazed at the results. Don't be discouraged by the many links. Anyone who is truly interested in doing something right will consider all possiblities when researching a project.... :) Mark

Almost forgot, another option is to go to Axtell's AxTV, and there is a segment on how he makes his latex parts.
Good luck with your research.... Mark

Check out this web-page and purchase her DVD. She makes a latex puppet on par with Axtell. She is incredibly talented and her DVD is very informative. Have fun! |
