My favorite summer TV show is the History Detectives on PBS. Tonights show included a woman who was exhibited in Martin Couney's Incubators for premature babies.

It was an interesting story as I was unaware that there were others out there other than Dr. Fischel who charged to show the babies he was saving. I don't think Couney had the ability like Fischel to settle down but like Fischel saved so many children.

Here is a transcript of the segment: http://www.pbs.org/opb/historydetectives......bies.pdf
A direct from text adaptation : The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde Starring Mickey Rooney in his final role.

My father, Walter, was born premature and exhibited in the fair at the end of the 1934 season. His show business career ended there.
It wasn't the brightest thing I've ever done in my life. Sadly though, it was far from the dumbest.

I may be completly off on this, feel free to correct me but I feel in doing research on my family whom danced on the Steel Pier in Atlantic City I came across a photo of Martin Couney's Show on the Boardwalk if not the Steel Pier.

Ill see if I can find it again.

FYI, I too was a premee, 4lbs-9oz. I looked like a translucent frog, and fit in my Grandfathers hand between the tip of his finger and his wrist.
