Uhm, that's not a problem, that's the whole point of the effect.

I don't think the presentation was 100% clear on the Symphony dvd for Timeline 2.0

My presentation is similar to John Kennedy's Mystery Box. I start off by telling the audience that this card is "the end" of the trick and the goal is to pick the card that matches it in the deck. I have them sign their name on the card and what the time will be 2 minutes later.

They select the card, they look in the box and it is gone with their selection magically changed to the mystery card.

Maybe I'm looking at this in the wrong way, I don't know. My take on Timeline 2.0 is a "Between the Palms" and/or JK's Mystery Box type of effect. However, in the effects I named the "mystery card" is out of play until the final reveal...implying that their selection was the mystery card...everything is peachy and magical. But in 2.0, the card they select matches the their selection but now, all of a sudden, it has their signature on the back...a back they just saw two seconds ago. Again, to me, going this route tips the method.

The DVD has some fab stuff on it, but I personally don't care for VOID that much. It looks better with a gaff, so.. why not use a gaff?

Agreed. The only problem with Wenk's original is that hardly anybody uses wooden pencils anymore, unless you want to carry around your own. Ha ah, I still have the same gaff from about 12 years ago. Misleading Misled is also a nice impromtu pen through bill. I really like Danny's Jacob's Ladder...very visual.

Ladder was really good, but I would be afraid of drunk people wanting to look at it from every angle.

There have been a few "updates" to misled using pens and whatnot that weren't terrible. I would like to see his gaff for the straw he mentions in the video.

I have to rewatch the video, I don't recall him mentioning a gaff for VOID.

I've got to say, yes there are bits of this in his lecture notes, but, for example, Void (Butter Bill in the notes) is expanded from what's in the notes, and I would imagine, as it is on film, also more clearly taught and you can see how it is meant to look, and how ridiculously convincing the illusion is.

I picked up the notes after his Lecture at Greg Frewin's Theater, though, they were the same price as Symphony at the time, so I may note have been thinking clearly, lol.

I do agree though, that, as they are going to be on the Project continuation, one could see this as a redundant purchase eventually, however, Symphony contains select pieces from DGP 4,5,6 and to see them all you would need to purchase all of them.

Not that purchasing them would be a bad idea, lol. However, I view it as similar to Asher's Sampler. A good purchase for a taste of what's available.

Any who, on the note of Symphony, I just want to add that it contains, what I consider to be, one of the BEST variations on the Hofsinzer style force. It is actually something I also came up with independently years ago and use it more than any other force. I imagine many have also had the same, or similar idea(s) on it, but it is GREAT, IMHO, and it is on Symphony. In fact, the routine Garcia uses it in is a brain fryer on its own. Truly stunning magic.

The penetrations with non-set up, ungimmicked straw and non-set up, ungimmicked bill is easily the finest piece of impromptu, available, universal close-up that I've come across in decades. Easily worth the price of the whole DVD if you only use that one set of penetrations.

One of the highlights of my TAOM experience.

I don't do much close up. I refuse to carry rubber bands, cards, anything that isn't completely impromptu. Danny, you've solved that with these. I've sat around, trying to come up with what you've solved in this DVD. I'm no slouch at invention. But, I am so humbled by this. I didn't do much closeup. Now, I will.

Danny, you are a witch.

Yes^

This DVD was F A N T A S T I C. I am not a fan of the money magic, but Jacob's ladder was very well constructed.

.44 is my favorite.

They are my favorites as well. I would say they are both outstanding and I will be adding them to the list of tricks that I do. Jacobs Ladder is also very good.

I am not really a card guy although I do a handful of card effects. That said .44 blew me away. Even after knowing the method I can not see Danial doing the move in the performance clips. It really looks like magic.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I can't seem to hide it as well as he does.

Just got Symphony and as someone who loves impromptu magic gotta admit this is awesome I am once again stunned by DG's abilities...not only to perform but to create

Had a quick question to anyone but I ask myself why use the time in timeline 2.0??? why not the date/the spectator's phone number haha but seriously why specifically does danny choose to use the time and why if any of you do do you use it? I'm a little puzzled and toying with ideas for this!

The back of the card is not seen until the climax. You don't see a card whith no signature and then see one with it. It is hidden until the end. Regarding the time, I think it is because you show the spec that they signed the card at a certain point prior to them picking a different card. In the end, they are the same card. That is the magic. It is almost like a back in time style effect. At least that is how I see it. With that said, the effects on this dvd are awesome! Real magic at its best. Way to go Daniel!!

I am a HUGE fan of Danny Garcia and his work. His approach to performing is extremely admirable!

'Timeline 2.0' is one of my favorite card effects to perform, period. I love the fact that you lead the spectator down a 'wrong path', thus having the climax of the trick being a total "WTF?" moment. The fact that the selected and signed card vanishes from the box and then is unknowingly freely selected by the specator is like a double whammy; "Wait, there's no card in here," followed by a "wait, what??!" upon revealing the signature on the back of the card. They don't expect the outcome whatsoever. A really magical moment!

'.44' is also fantastic, and something that I perform all the time. I encountered much difficulty learning the mechanics of the trick when I first started learning it..to me, the one move was awkward and un-natural in my hands. So, I tweaked the handling and developed a different way to perform the move, which accomplishes the exact same thing. I've found my own handling to be much easier, and it also allows me to do the routine legit 5 inches from the spectator's face (from a bird's-eye-view angle). For '.44', I've developed a presentation that involves me "showing a gambling move" to my spectator, saying that "this is something that card cheats do in Vegas. This is why some people get banned from casinos.., etc." I love it! If anybody is curious to how I tweaked the handling, feel free to PM me and we'll chat!

I hope everyone has as much fun with these effects as I have!
