My own quote, (I think I made it up).

"I claim no supernatural powers. But how much do we know about the natural limits of the mind?"

And I love Dunningers, "Any five year old with ten years of practice could do it," IIRC.
I'm selling my hardcover autographed limited edition copy of Jerome Finley's "Thought Veil"

PM me for info.

Isn't a mentalist quote but I used...
The most beautiful and deepest experience a man can have is the sense of the mysterious.

"In your mind, I need you to shout the name of the person you're thinking of. Just in your mind -- not out loud or there'd be no point in any of this. Just in your mind. One. Two. Three!"

(She shouts the name out loud. The crowd laughs.)

(Pause) "Okay, I think I'm getting it...."

(Yes, this actually happened at one of my shows.)

Thanks Sven - I knew there were two different versions out there, one correct the other not, and I bumpt for the wrong one. Smile

You were almost correct in your first quote. The exact Dunninger is:

To those who believe, no explanation is necessary.

To those who do not believe, no explanation is possible.

It may have been misquoted differently and that accepted as the correct way or perhaps Dunninger said it a number of ways which is why there is confusion, however if you watch the Joseph Atmore DVD there is a montage at the beginning with photos and video clips of Dunninger. One clip is Dunninger saying the above quote exactly as I have written it.

The first one to suggest that approach was the late Ned Rutledge.

I believe Tim Conover uses the same disclaimer, and also quotes Ned on it. Beautiful line to sum up the art of mentalism - if used correctly.

On a slight side note - I've never liked that Ned Rutledge line as we don't have 5 senses, certainly those are the 'main' ones (if by main one means the most obvious as we have holes in our body to receive the stimulus)...
