Is there a remake? That comes close to blasphemy...
The film is one of the best ever IMO. Knil "you're only meant to blow the bloody doors off" Gnissim. |

I thought it was good, but I wanted it to have a surprise ending. I thought it was very direct, which is good, but needed that surprise for the audience at the end, the way the movie Confidence did.

What kind of cars? Are they using the "new" BMW owned Mini? I will enjoy seeing it, BUT, surely someone filling Michael Caine's shoes was like someone trying to fill Tony Perkins' shoes in Psycho!!

See one heist movie, you've seen 'em all.

The Mini’s were the stars of The Italian Job. Honestly, the original Mini Cooper that helped establish a character had more class than the modern Minis (BMW built) that were used later in the film.
For all the action sequences the film seemed to plod along to its predictable conclusion. The story is “tied” up in the closing credits almost as an afterthought. All and all, it is a mediocre movie at best. Rent the Michael Cane original and compare. By the way, the part of the movie that uses the Mini’s is set in Hollywood. And they don’t seem to bother what side of the road they drive on, and in fact spend little time on the road!

Hey, I like Vince Vaughn, don't knock his brilliant portayal in the Psycho remake.
What was he supposed to do ? Seriously try to pull that role off or add his own subtle comedic flair ? I think the latter, and he did it perfectly! Or was it not intended to be funny ? I don't really know... oh well, who cares! But I am interested in seeing The Italian Job, thanks for the positive feedback. GlenD

You know at the end when they are driving a bus, if you watch careful just before the credit come on you can see a rock bouncing UP the cliff edge..hmmm. NOW that's MAGIC! Matt |

Just saw it today. I thought it was a good remake. I disagree with Haryy that the story was tied up as an afterthought. I thought the story ended with the film. Showing the "after" was just an interesting tidbit. I do agree the original is a wonderful film. The remake is a fun film. Better than mediocre in my book I would say it was a good film.

I thought the end of the film was a bit cocky. I mean Edward Norton killed a couple of people point blank. I mean they should have done more to him then have Theron just punch him!! I found that to be a bit stupid. But the rest was fun.

But what is the point in remaking the film? Surely money would have been better invested in making something new.

Mediocre entertainment that was predictable right up to the ending. I had just turned to my wife and said "the Ukranians are coming" and there they were...and we know THEY did more to Norton than Theron's punch but just didn't show it. All in all, not a bad way to pass a couple of hours.
I have seen a lot worse.....for example....the second Matrix movie. They should have cut one chase scene and hired some more writers.
