I always thought of doing an evil clown character, a sort of "bizarre Bozo". Does anyone think an evil clown would be interesting? Smile

Icky the evil clown!

For an adult audience I think that would be great! And could also be very funny. Has anyone ever seen the movie "Shakes the Clown?" The premise is that clowns are clowns 24/7. They are born clowns, and in the movie most are drunk and obnoxious. It's great!
Thank you,

John Zander

Now you're going over the line my friend, you need to keep the clowns away from me, I haven’t looked at them the same way since IT. Smile Smile Smile

Check out the song "I Hate Clowns" by Too Much Joy. It’s about a kid whose dad put clown wall paper up in his room... and his life that ensued.

"A clown was my boss at every job I ever had.

Clowns run all the record companies that ever said we’re bad."

Evil clowns have historical precedent. Read The Death and Resurrection Show by Rogan Taylor.

I think an evil clown character would be VERY interesting.

Whether it would "fly" or not is another question.

But I absolutely LOVE the idea.

Definitely! I think it would go over very well at the local comedy club (where anything different than the standard stand-up comic is appreciated).

(Personally, I _loved_ the movie, "Killer Klowns from Outer Space.")

I get work from people saying "You're not a clown right? I'm er.. I mean my kid is scared of clowns...." go for it Smile

I also like the idea of a screaming mime start all quiet and then for no reason at all scream at the top of your lungs, then get real quiet again Smile

Hey Ichazod,
Check out http://www.coneyislandusa.com/per.koko.shtml . This clown's name is Koko the Killer Clown. No wonder so many people have a deathly fear of clowns.

Check out the chilling "pre-bizarrist" picture of Tony Andruzzi in clown makeup in the October 2000 issue of Genii.

It still raises the hair on my neck to think of what THAT character must have been like!

On the subject of evil clowns - we can't forget our dear friend Mr Punch (who is probably more of an anarchist than evil although people DO die).

Mr Punch's antics may offer some inspiration in that area. There are many scripts on the net and as his earliest English speaking appearance was in 1662, you've a fine pedigree. Smile
May your fingers never lose their deftness,

May your tongue always lead them down the garden path...

John Zander,

I love "Shakes the Clown" One of my all time favorite movies. Bob Cat Goldthwaits' finest hour. Ya know he wrote directed and starred in it? Makes me wonder if he had a family member that was a clown. He had a good grip on the whole biz pretty well.

Koko has disappeared last I heard. So that means there is a market for a little scary clown.

I know I am out on a limb here, but I hate the idea of evil clowns.

Yes, there are people who don't like clowns --usually because of a bad experience with a bad clown, but deliberately doing an "evil clown" would just carry on the stereotype.

I love clowns and clowning, and would hate to see anyone deliberately hurt the image of clowns.Smile

Just my two cents...

My favorite clowns are those of the Cirque du Soleil, who most definitely possess a very sinister side.

I am working, at least in the back of my mind, on a clown act that would feature cigarette magic and geek effects. He has already made one appearance in public doing needle swallowing to the tune of singing in the rain and got an interesting response from the audience. I am also looking forward to doing Santa Claus in my golden years and playing up his dark side as well. Remember he also distributes punishment as well as reward.

The World Wrestling gang had an evil wrestling clown a few years ago.."Doink" then he turned "good" and, like other wrestlers that did that, wasn't near as "entertaining"!!!

Hi Guys

Take a look at

http://www.ihateclowns.com

and

http://www.insaneclownposse.com

The second one is my personal favorite, I love that band! Their evil clown characters are fantastic. They have also wrestled as evil clowns in WCW, ECW, WWE and JCW. They NEVER turned face though, unlike Doink.

Have fun

Just thought this topic should go back to the top again, being halloween and all. When else can evil clowns roam the world?

Happy Halloween everybody!

I'm afraid we're in the minority, but I don't particularly care for the "evil clown"
thing either. I am a Clown, and I can't believe how many kids and grownups are afraid of Clowns. It's just sad. Clowns are
supposed to be good. Guess it's just a sign
of the times.
