Is anybody has a link to watch a live performance of this one please?
Or some stories about how the audience have reacted in front of such a so strange and fascinating trick?

I saw Bro John perform this many years ago in San Antonio. Was blown away. Have been performing it ever since!

Not really a "live" performance, but he does perform the trick on disc 3 of the DVD set "The Lost Works of..."

More than just a good trick Paul. This is a lesson in leading the spectators minds down the garden path.I rate this one of Hamman's finest creations, along with the signed card, the multiplying kings and two shuffles Harry.

All the best

This is a great effect, but, as Harry Lorayne states in Apocalypse it is one you must constantly review/perform or you will forget it. He is right. I have a great memory for effect structure but The Two Card Trick seems to fall out of my head if I am away from it for about three days.

All that being said, the effect really packs a punch. It is a masterpiece of psychological flammery and well worth inclusion in any repertoire as there are so many presentation angles. For the occasional bizarrist who might happen by this thread, try the Two Card Trick with Tarot cards. Smile

Hi Ross:

The effect: (As Magiguy already threaded above-"Lost Works...)
Using a blue-backed deck, spec. has a selection of either the AS, or QH.
(Richard Kaufman is the spec. on the clip)
He chose the AS.
Bro. John showed that the AS was the only red-backed card.
Then the red-back transferred to the QH.
Then Bro. John asked why Richard chose the AS? Because there never was the AS!
Bro. John displayed the 2 cards.
A blue-backed QH, & a red-backed QH.

I can't believe I'd never seen that trick before.

It's a thing of beauty.

Yes, I perform/teach it on one of my "Best Ever" 4-vol. DVD set, but I think it was originally taught way back in the March 1978 (3rd issue of the magazine) issue of APOCALYPSE. HL.

It's a nice trick. I just looked it up in Apocalypse. Thank you for the reference to it, Harry, and thank you too for all the good work you put into creating those magazines over the years. I have them all (in bound form) on my shelf of magic books.
