I've seen better.

Marti Brill seems to be a real life incarnation of Arrested Development's Gob.

On AGT, you'll notice that nearly every magician states that they are a 'magician' on the show..

Versus leading them onto something else..

"I am a close-up enterainer"

GOD! I wish my name was Matt.... "I am a close-up Matt!"

=D

This thread started with the question “Ever Wonder Why Some People Think Magic is Second Rate Entertainment?”
I’ve always thought that there are bad magicians performing because “a trick” is something relatively easy to perform. I didn’t say “magic”. I said “a trick”.
Add to that some wit (or the belief that you have it), couple of jokes (or remarks you consider funny), the need for a few bucks and guts… and you’re on the road, baby! Now, try this with a piano. No way!! You need years of practice before you can even attempt a lousy piano performance.
I don’t think magic shops or books are to blame. We all learn (and learnt) from somewhere, anyway. The problem is that after only a few months of learning how to do tricks you can perform. And it shows.

I re-read my previous post. Don't want anybody to think that I consider any piano performance lousy. Just meant that you need years of practice before you can even attempt to play in public (and still sound lousy). Spanish is my mother tongue, so sometimes my English is not that clear.
