...and I have the next two weekends off! (When you work for Wal*Mart, you can't be certain from one week to the next which days off you'll have!
Wish me luck for good weather people! I'm going to Thayer Street on Saturday afternoon/evening and the Roger Williams Park Carosel area on Sunday. (I may have to bring my kid along. He came to the park with his brother a couple of weeks ago and watched me perform. Later, after his brother had left, he stayed with me and we got ice cream (it was a good pitch day). Now he believes this is going to be a regular occurence. *sigh* On another note. RIPTA (Rhode Island Public Transit Authority) has reinitiated the Providence/Newport Ferry run! ($7.50 one way and much better than the #60 bus!) I wrote them and asked about performing for the passengers waiting for the ferry. I was told the ferry is running from private property and I would have to ask the owner. So I just sent him a letter. Let's hope he has some imagination and doesn't just knee-jerk a "no!"

I love bringing my kids to gigs occasionally. Two years ago I managed to get my eight year old son on a ferry between Ireland and France. We had a great time together, and he learned how to work for his money - he only got his spending money if he did 30 minutes of balloon modelling. Great experience for both of us.
Hope it all goes well for you.

The guy in charge at the RI chapter of the S.A.M. said he got his kid into his restaurant show. "Kid does a Ball and Vase trick and my tips go up 75%!"

So far, nothing. Saturday was "chores" Sunday was drizzle and today the kid (autistic) has it in his head that we should do WaterFire and as his mother has just finished her dialysis _and_ intends to take one of the other kids shopping, WaterFire is going to be too much for her so it falls to me! I might see if I can leave the house early and squeeze in a couple of hours at Thayer St. _before_ the WaterFire starts, but I'm not hoping for a lot!
Everybody knows TOMORROW I do the park... alone!

I did the park. Didn't stay for too long, both because I don't have the stamina you guys do AND again it was getting grey and threatening to drizzle. So I decided to come home before my cards needed wringing out.
Pathetic hat. Let's just leave it at that. Thank God I don't have to do this for a living. But any money you come away with that's more than you came IN with is good money, and the crowds were enthusiastic and seemed to be having fun. Again, my hat's off to you guys who can go out there for eight to ten hours and make more than I do in a week at Wally*World! God love you.
