Whit Haydn's routine is really excellent. I'm practicing it at the moment while trying to find a pattern that fits my personality.
The only thing I still need to find is a different word for "Mongolian", since it tends to sound too offensive here in Europe even though the folks of Mongolia exist. But the first thing that peolpe always get in their mind is the nasty word for the illness. Whit, did you ever get complaints about this ? Does anybody has an idea how to deal with it ? Thanks Oliver. |

Well, in this country, "Mongoloid" has been for the most part completely replaced by "Down's Syndrome," so I don't think if is much of an issue. My reference is to the people of Mongolia, who were famous horsemen, and at one time had more about that in the opening, but have since dropped most all of it.
I used to open with something along this line, "The horsemen of the plains of Mongolia were known for their knowledge of ropes and their abilities with complicated and intricate knots. The Pop-Knot is one of the most fascinating and useful of the ancient knots. Instructions for it have never been written down, and the secret is only passed down orally from one generation to the next. I will teach it to you, translated into English as best I can, but you must pay close attention." You can easily add something like this to the opening patter, and that would probably cover your issue. |

Thank you very much Whit, that's a great intro to your effect.
Personaly I thought of talking about Gengis Khan, which should be the most famous of all Mongolians of the past century. Thank you very much for the hint and the comfort guiding me in the right direction. Oliver. |

You could call it a Pixie Pop-Knot, a Lithuanian Leap Knot, or practically anything that suits your character.

The black knot? (Batman reference).
I got a package from UPS yesterday, but it didn't have pixie dust, just 10 LIVE pixes, which are causing havok in the house. So which is best to make pixie dust, the blender, the food processor or something else? |

The blender is fine, but they need to be carefully dried first. If they have shadows, those will need to be removed. Sew their heels together and hang them on a string, like peppers. The noise fades away pretty soon.

Thanks guys for all your suggestions on a replacement name for Whit's Mongolian Pop Knot. You got me inspired and I think it won't last very long before I come up with something on my own that suits me and my stage personna.

I think the knot was named after "POP" Haydn.
