If you go to Youtube and type in Lance Burton and then click on the video with lance on a purple background and then skip to near the end where he does his single ba***alm productions, you will notice that his they are much more snappy than other magicians. His hand resumes a more odd position than necessary before the produtions, but when they appear-they do it quickly! Does anybody know what he is doing slightly varying from most peoples ba***alms that make them snappy?

Cardini's snap productions of single cards is what Lance and many others are using.

JamesTong, I think he is doing snap productions with his left hand. I am talking about the way he does his ba***alm productions in his right hand. Thanks a lot anyway!

New cards every performance? Sometimes those Youtube videos aren’t all that great. I would guess if Lance was doing single productions in your living room for you it would like a lot like yours.

Thanks markis, I was beginning to figure the same thing.

JamesTong, Sorry about that mistake. I was wondering, is heir a difference between Cardinis Snap Productions and Regular bac***lms?

If I recall correctly, Cardini's production of single cards was explained in _Greater Magic_. One of its strong points is that it is more angle-proof than the standard BP card production.

I don't think it has to do with the card quality, maybe a little bit. It's mainly how and where you grip the cards in b******m and the amount of pressure you use to produce them. Jeff Sheridan also has a very quick Cardini production. Vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ez9xfssJk0k
Try experimenting with different grips. Tip: I think if it's not very deep in b******m then you will have a quicker production. Yehuda |

Thanks A lot YRauch! Do you mean deep in the length of the fingers or deep like how far it shows in the front of the hand?

I mean deep as in the length of the fingers. I think having the cards closer to the tips of your fingers will give you a quicker production. In addition, I'm sure having more of the card exposed in the front will enhance your card productions.
Don't be so worried about how much is exposed. You can have a lot coming out and just keep your grip strong and it should keep it pretty closed. If you have Jeff McBride's DVDs you will see that he doesn't mind having a lot of the card showing. He keeps his hand moving and of course he uses red backed bees which blends in with his hands. Hope this helps Elliot. Yehuda |

Speaking of the card being exposed, I hope I didn't expose too much n that last post.

Thanks a lot Yehuda!
I don't think any layman would work to hard to understand the meaning of a post on a magic Café forum thread, so you didn't expose too much! |

It also has to do with how much tension you build up. if you pull quite hard on the top card before slightly releasing finger pressure (and letting the card come thru) then when you do let up, it's going to snap out a lot faster with a lot more force.
this way is in my opinion cruically superior to guys that wave their hands around while a card gradually angles its way into view. the BP pro should look like they're instantly appearing in an open hand, not being furiously shaken into existence. |
