Have any? I don't do this sort of thing, but my son wants to. Basic stuff. You know know, like cutting the head off Christie Brinkley and putting it on the body of Elle Macpherson.
Wait. That's my idea. I think he wants to edit photos of himself. You know, like cutting out his body and putting it on the background of a real sports stadium or something. Kids. Darned kids probably don't know who Christie Brinkley is, anyway. |

I'll second the Gimp. It is a bit of a pain to install for Windows, but it is an amazingly powerful program. And free too!

I'm using Windows Vista. John, what do you mean by a pain to install?

Hah! Caught me.
The main Gimp program is made for Linux. It has been ported to windows but the install used to take a bit of work. I just went to the download site here and did a fresh install. Guess what? They've made it easy-peasy-pie. Just download and go. Thanks for forcing me to re-install and to correct myself. Happy gimping. John

OK, it installed with no problems whatsoever, and we'll play around with it together tomorrow.
Thanks for the help. |

GIMP would probably be my first choice, too.
If you want to check out another option, Paint.net is another free program that's highly rated. http://www.getpaint.net/ -Brad |

I use two: GIMP which is already mentioned, good for complex PhotoShop style effects.
And then there is PhotoFiltre - which is a lot simpler and easier to use. Is a lot more like early versions of PaintShop Pro: http://photofiltre.free.fr/download_en.htm -JoeJoe
