This is really great news. Don't know how I missed it to this point. As October is almost over the question I have is will there be availability to get back issues? I may not be able to subscribe until sometime Nov./Dec. and I don't want to miss any of the issues.
Thanks again for bringing it back.

Yes, all new subscriptions will get the back issues. We're only doing this a volume at a time (four issues) so if a new subscriber missed the first two issues, for example, they would get those right away and then the remaining two issues for that volume when they're published.
Thanks for the kind words... |

Not only is it back; it was in my mailbox today.
OK, I ripped open the packaging. I have not had my dosage of the Magic Menu in years… Here’s how it went: Looked at the cover and smiled, and also the construction of the issue, it is a far cry from the original, WOW!. Next I started reading Jim’s editorial, then my eyes drifted left to the inside cover and the “Special Thanks” my eyes were drawn to Richard Robinson (I first learned of the Magic Menu of his Spider Net, back in the early 1990s), then there were my buddies, Andrew Pinard and Jim Spinnato, my friend Daniel Greenwolf (also a staff writer for MM), Richard Osterlind, Louis Falanga, and the ever lovely and friendly Sandra Sisti. Then I did as I did with every issue I read, jumped to Al the Only’s column. I read this with a smile! Normally I would then flip to Paul Green’s In the Trenches, but a comment about balloons in Al’s column caused me to flip to Mark Byrne’s column. Then it was to Paul’s. Paul, if you read this, you don’t need to give an introduction or back story, you’re "Paul Green" for goodness sakes! Then curiosity got to me, I’ve heard the name, I know we are related (but distantly) so I had to flip to Mark Zacharia’s column and see his picture. I know, I had not mentioned it, but gone are the old days with a sketch of the columnist, there are photos of the guys now! Danny Doyle was next, I read and nodded in agreement: something I don’t normally admit in public! I jumped to Tom Frank, I’m along for the journey too. Paul Gordon was next. Started reading, skipped ahead with a promise to return after I learned it was going to be something with playing cards, landed on Daniel Greenwolf’s column, more cards. That’s were I stand right now, I still have much of the magazine to go (articles by Christopher Lyle, Scott Guinn, and James Prince), plus two items I have to return too… Beautifully produced, excellent quality paper stock and cover, excellent photographs, clear writing, an excellent publication! Thank you Jim. Welcome back Magic Menu. Tony Iacoviello |

Actually, Chet, the very first issues of the Menu were printed on a Panasonic 24-pin dot matrix printer sometime in the late Triassic period.
Also, Tony, thanks for the extensive review. I'm glad you like the new look! |

That was a Panasonic 24-pin output? You used Newsroom, didn't you?

Only the first two issues. I then moved to PFS: Publisher for a few issues and then to Publish It (a frame-based DTP program that was essentially a simplified version of Ventura Publisher.) Finally, somewhere in Volume Four, I buckled down and learned PageMaker and have stuck with that ever since. As Mike Close said in a review of the "First Five Years" book, the original volumes of The Magic Menu were a good overview of the history of desktop publishing in the early 90's...

I hope everyone is getting their issues by now. I'll be interested in hearing what others think.
In other MM news, we've added a new columnist. I'm very excited to announce that Richard Osterlind will be writing a column on walk-around mentalism beginning with the next issue! |

Received - the same day, mind you, as the *13 Steps* DVDs - Magic Menu #new today.
So don't disturb me now. This stuff is too good to skim -- I'm reading and re-reading, viewing and re-viewing. Somehow, these two items compliment each other. And walk-around mentalism by Richard Osterlind starting in January?? Holy Moly! *jeep! --Astounded Chet

Received mine yesterday afternoon, and it is every bit as good as I expected. Actually, more so. Great production values and a first class line-up of contributors (can't wait for the addition of Richard Osterlind). Nice job, Jim! You do get the "most welcome comeback in magic" award. Jefferson Airplane's got nothing on you.
