I have a friend who got one and he actually does the color change in people's hands and gets away with it!! I'm not so brave.

Adds meaning to "he's got balls." Actually, I have thought about doing that...if the persons hand is cupped right and you remove it as soon as it is presented, I'm sure it would work, then quickly continue to something else.

I actually meant a copper/silver/brass type of effect. I'm a busy working professional and this looks like something that I could use regularly both in strolling and in my stand up shows.

I ordered 2 the other day and I'm waiting for them to arrive.
Been thinking about a routine and think that I won't do any visible changes with these. The routine is based on a transposition of colors. Having two balls of two different colors change places is magical. If I show a ball changing color in my hand, then I think it changes the object from a green ball to a ball than can change colors. And if it can change colors, then that's how it's done. It just changes colors. Just because something CAN do something, doesn't mean that you have to do it or show it that way. Sometimes covert and sneaky is better than in your face.

I saw this at Magic Live and foolishly did not pick one up. However, after giving the prop some thought, I ordered it for my existing Benson bowl routine and I think it will play well. My thought is using the standard RED balls for the Benson bowl routine. At the end do a multi-ball load into the bowl (maybe 10-12 balls), but GREEN. The last phase will be somehow introducing the CCSP, showing it as red, visually changing it to green, then lifting the bowl to show the large load of green balls in the bowl. I'm hoping for an amplification of the effect from both the color change and multi-load.

I use them as my "testing ground" because I perform there about once per month and as a result are typically very critical. Make sure you dampen the ball though. Charlie |

I think by dampen he means dipping it in water.. not licking it... right?

I did the "insert red ball in hand, green ball in mouth, then have them change places" routine. It looks pretty convincing, and has so far gotten good reactions, but you do have slime all over the mouth ball at the end. The good thing is, no one wants you to hand it out for inspection.

I got my set of CCSB's in the mail today. They are everything I expected them to be and more. Very well made and very easy to use. They really do almost work themselves. I can see MANY possibilities with these little gems!

I ordered one and got it the other day. The possibilities are many, and the construction is really very good. I'm ready to order another.
The advice that comes with the gimmick (as well as that of others in this thread) is spot on -- dampening the sponge makes it so much easier, not that it's hard without doing so.

I picked up one of these beauties when I lectured for Paul Gross last month at Hocus-Pocus. I should have picked up at least two more of them while I was there because they totally freakin rock!
I started using it this weekend in my kids birthday party shows and it is totally narley. NARLEY - An adjective used to describe something that is way cool! (Yes I am from the 80's)Long live metal!!! Seriously though, Jimi has come up with something that sponge magic has needed for a real long time. I am going to order at least 4 more sets and have already incorporated the RED/GREEN versions for a new Christmas routine for my December shows called "Jingle Balls" One version for the children's shows and one for the adult shows wich I cannot share the details of said routine due to the adult nature in question but trust me, they are wickedly perfect for my blue routine!!! Never met Jimi before but he seems to be one totally bodacious dude!!! BODACIOUS - Another rockin adjective meaning totally awesome. Used once again primarily in the 80's by many narley type surfer dudes, valley girls and general populace of teenagers. Popularized by such movies as Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure and Bill and Teds Bogus Journey. Rock on, Tony Chris
As magicians we create what onlookers call magic. If they truly believe in what we have created for them to witness then magic is real!!!

I got mine and have played with it quite a bit now.
On the video he does a couple color switches holding the ball in his hand with just a movement of the hand. It is quick and almost non-revealing. I think to make it work your fingers should be in the same position with the green ball as the red ball. That takes some lighting fast finger movement. Have tried to find the best position to hold it and attempt to do it lighting quick but it is going to take some practice to get where I want it. Pushing it through your fist is a no brainer and so so in showmanship. But doing the flash in front of them is quite magical. |

I've had my CCSB's for about 2 weeks now and I too have been practicing keeping my fingers in the same position after the change. It does take a bit of practice but it can be done.
I stumbled on an idea for a "betcha" for the CCSB the other day. I had the green ball in my shirt pocket with the top of the ball sticking out a bit. A friend of mine noticed the ball and asked me what it was. I took out the green ball with my right hand and displayed it a bit and then did the "push" into my left hand. I told the guy I would give him a dollar if he could tell me which hand the green ball was in. He laughed, told me to get my dollar ready and said it was in my left hand. I asked him if he was absolutly sure the green ball was in my left hand and he said "of course it is, I saw you put it there!" I opened my hand, showed him the red ball and told him he was wrong. Right away I put the ball into my pants pocket. He said "let me see that ball" so I reached in and pulled out a regular red sponge ball and handed it to him. He was pretty floored to say the least. It got me to thinking about all of the possibilities for uses of these little gems. I just wanted to share my first "real world" showing of this effect. By the way, I didn't take the guys dollar. LOL
