Not sure where to post this? I'm trying to find out who others use for a minimum of a 2 million liability insurance policy?

HMK liability insurance runs August to August regardless wehn you purchase it. Never needed it but a few customers h ave asked if I am insured and it was what sealed the deal. sam

A good friend suggested Specialty Insurance a few years back and I've been with them ever since.
The insurance offered by IBM and SAM don't cover anything if you read the fine print. The customer service is also lacking .. they keep changing insurance companies and so on .. I wasn't even sure if my insurance was worth more than the paper it was printed on. That reminds me, I had to hound them so I could at least get a certificate .. they didn't even send one. They were fast to cash the check though. Go with Specialty .. they'll even answer the phone. Steve |

Performers with LIVE ANIMALS beware that the Specialty Insurance policy EXCLUDES ALL ANIMALS (including birds) from coverage. The IBM policy does extend coverage to performing Dogs, Rabbits and Doves only. Parrots are NOT covered under the IBM policy. I'm still searching for a policy that covers performing parrots.

Check for coverage regarding the use of any fire. My liability insurance specifically prohibits the use of any fire at all from flash paper and candles to flash pots and beyond. I am not allowed to use it.
Also, although I can use doves, rabbit, finches and our small dog, no one other than Pat or I am allowed to touch the animals. That means petting the bunny (or dove or dog) at the end of the show (or at any time)is not allowed by any audience member. I have read where some members have discussed the best way to hold their bunny for kids to pet is, especially those who do birthday party shows. They may very well be in breach of their liability insurance (if they are carrying any) and find themselves in a lot of trouble should the animal scratch or bite a child. |

A woman named Kim at HMK is so rude that it lead me here to check this thread. Will be checking out Specialty and Tower. Jeez, it's like she's doing you a favor by answering the phone! What a shame.

I say that because insurance was the initial reason I joined IBM. If the insurance company that they use is crappy then that reduces my incentive to remain a member. Someone should let IBM know that we're finding their insurance company "lacking in customer service" as Steve pointed out above.

I was sooo unhappy with IBM, Specialty has been very helpful, responsive, and clear about their coverage and cost. They are 2 million and many performer plans only cover 2 million. I've also had acknowledgment from clients that they respect their certificates. My two-cents, Walt
