How many of you actually use a rabbit (or other live animal) in your show?

You know the founder of Dove Hotline has to use doves and I do. However, Over the 47 years of magic I have used ducks, rabbits, horses, geese, chickens, parakeets, dogs, gerbils, rats, gold fish, and even a turtle. I'm sure there are others that I have forgotten.

Presently I am using a rabbit, dove and chinchilla. I use to include a ferret, guinea pig and cat.

I use snakes, tarantulas/scorpions, giant millipedes, hissing cockroaches, and in the past I also used doves.

Yup. Doves, rabbits, finches and once in a while a small dog.
Just curious, what insurance coverage do you have that allows you to use the more exotic type of livestock? Ours only allows us to use the animals I listed and the audience is forbidden to touch or pet any of our livestock according to our liability policy. |

Two rabbits and two doves. Although I alternate the rabbits, so only one per show. I just wanted my first rabbit to have a friend.

What insurance did you get for the hissing cockroaches?!

Mine doesn't cover the snakes and things, but when I use them at schools, etc, I do not let anyone touch them unless a teacher or someone comes up one on one and ask about it.
If I ever let folks touch the snake, I do so while I'm holding it and they are only allowed to touch the tail. I have the head of the snake the entire time, just as a precaution. The scorpion and tarantula are in containers and I don't even touch them - I just nudge them in and out with a pen when it's time to go to a show. They stay in their containers the whole time until we are back home and then I sit the open container in their cages and they crawl out whenever they feel like it. Sometimes the tarantula will sit in it for days before deciding to move! |

Bats! Now that is one I have missed. Do they just hang from the wand?
