My Templar just arrived today! I have to say wow, what a thing of beauty.
Here is my review: The Templar is a medallion that looks like it is hundreds of years old. It is silver and well aged. The silver chain is different from the Relic but I think it matches the design much better and really adds to the overall look. On one side there is a picture of the Knights Templar seal with the 2 riders surrounded by script. It is a historically accurate depiction of the Templar seal. The other side has the Templar cross and looks great on the circular medallion. Again, it is aged very well and you will not get questioned about its authenticity! I don't own the Relic but I have played around with it and the Templar responds in the same manner. I tried it a couple times and had no problems identifying which hand it is in on a spectator. The kicker is identifying which side is up. I have a mildly loose ** Ring and was able to tell right away which side was up while in a spectator's closed hand. The story line is great and the possibilities for storytelling are great. With the historical popularity of the Knights Templar and the added bonus of the Freemason tie in to the storyline, the possibilities are pretty much only limited by your imagination. Overall, it is a beautiful piece and the retail cost is more than reasonable. I highly recommend it and will be using it a lot. Personally, I think it is one of the better pieces that have come from Outlaw, and that says a lot. Hope this helps!

You mention a ring. Is this something that comes with the package or is something you have to buy?

The Relic is something I use every chance I get, almost every time someone asks to see what I do. It can be used as a pendulum to demonstrate the ideomotor response, then used to follow up with the best non-electronic "guess" effect around. It's around my neck as I type. It appears to be beyond suspicion.
Templar might hold more interest for some; many people are interested and know about the Knight's Templar (or think they do after reading Dan Brown's book). Talk about something they're interested in and you've engaged them while making new friends.
The secret of deception is in making the truth seem ridiculous.

The Templar arrived in this afternoon's mail and I really have to concur with Wayne's review. I also own the Relic and the Templar works the same way but, at least to me, appears older. One reason is the chain which, instead of being bright silver, has a dark patina which I much prefer. The coin itself, in addition to the darkening that comes from age, also has a well worn look. If you don't have the Relic, you will need to supply your own ** Ring. It is really important to have a ring that fits as loosely as possible without it being obvious to an observer. The backstory is wonderful: anyone who hasn't been living under a rock has heard at least something about the Templars, whether it be through Dan Brown's books, the movies, or the endless documentaries on cable. So right away there is a base on which to build a conversation and spin a story. I've always been pleased with the Relic but, frankly, I will probably use the Templar more often.

I'm still waiting for mine! Sounds like it must be on the way! I'm looking forward to hearing what some of you are doing with yours besides the "which hand" effect.

I have been messing around with my Templar today. I think it is much stronger than my buddy's Relic. My ** Ring is not that loose and there is no mistaken which side is up! On the Relic that I played with I had a but of a hard time getting it, but there are no issues with my Templar. I also agree with Spindoc, the chain is great.
My wife saw it and instantly said, "How old is that thing, it looks really old?" She actually stated looking for cleaner to polish it. Classic!

I'm experiencing the same thing, even though according to the instructions that come with each the strength is the same. |
