Hello folks, I'm having troubles in the handling of a jumbo brainwave deck, could you tell me the correct way of handling without exposing cards and moving naturally?
thanks |

I don't know if there is a so called "correct" way. The way I perform it, is to take the cards out of the box with it showing the correct side to the audience holding the cards straight up (vertically). Also you have to make sure there is no one behind you. If you are surrounded, then you will definitely need to hold them horizontally which makes it harder for a larger audience to see. I put pencil marks on the corners of cards opposite the 7s & Kings to make it quicker to go through the deck to find the correct cards. One other thing that is important is to make sure the volunteer is also on the other side of you. (The same side as the audience) and make sure they are standing to the side so when you do go through the cards, the audience can see also. Then hold the cards up high so everyone can see them well. It's simply going to take some practice to get used to handling the jumbo cards being they are more difficult than a standard size deck, but that's basically the jist of it. No magic solution to it. I've done the Jumbo Brainwave in my shows since '86 and you'll just get more comfortable and used to it with practice and time.

P.S. As far as exposing cards goes, just keep a pretty tight pressure on the deck as you are spreading them out. It takes quite a bit more pressure than a regular size brainwave since they are larger. Again, it will just take practice. You've heard the old saying "Practice Makes Perfect". Well I disagree, but practice does make you a whole lot better.

PERFECT practice makes perfect. That's what I've always been told.
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.

Is there anyone that can tell me how long ago ago this effect (jumbo Brainwave) was released? it seems I remember an effect like that in the 1980's I want to say it was from Tom Mullica. it was so far back that I just cannot clearly recall. something like you showed 4 blue backed 8's and they changed into 4 red backed queen's and it used Jumbo cards and I never did get the handling down.
