I have just ordered a trick advertised on the UK MagicSeen magazine,
from a newish magic dealer called Hightrick, there web site is http://www.hightrick.com on the web site was the Ted Lesley Lemon Game advertised as the Doug Malloy Version with all props and for the knock down special price of only $40. so I thought this is a bargain and ordered from them, then in the post came a small package to me, I thought from the USA, but No it was from Theran in IRAN, inside was a ultra small Thumb Tip that has NO use at all in this effect, NO instructions what so ever, But inside the small package was a very cheap unprinted Pirate copied DVD taken from a Video Tape by, L & L Publishings Ted Lesleys Cabaret magic Volume 2 series that they sell for $39.95, On the pirate copy is only the one trick, ie, the bill in Lemon and even the start of it is missing from the copy, at least on L & L publishings original DVD you do get 8 full effects, demoed and all is fully explained. and even templates of things you need to make up gimicks, these templates are not even on the pirated DVD from Hightrick in Iran, I have been in contact with L & L Publishing in the USA, and now bought the original DVD from them direct, But mainly I contact them to let them know that this company in IRAN are copying there DVDs to sell on in pieces worldwide, If they are doing this to L & L, they must be doing it with other legitimate good dealers props as well. I also took contact with Mark Leverage the owner of the UK magio Magazine MagicSeen and informed them about this bogus sham ripp off company from IRAN. Unfortunatly there next issue with David Copperfield has already gone to press, and Hightrick are advertising in this issue, so be warned, Mark has told me if what I say is true they will be banned from all future advertising with them. PLEASE BEWARE do not deal with this company, they are not real and have NO ethics. I only bought from them as I thought they were legit, They are Not, only interest ius they want your hard earned $ and as much as they can get from you. also on there web site they now advertise grand Illusions at special Knock down prices, and Illusions by well known dealers Peter Naughton for one, I was wondering now just what some one would get from hightrick if they bought from them say the classic Robert Harbin Zig Zag Lady as this is on the site, you would probably receive a hammer, some nails and a copy of some crap workshop plans, again stay away from Hightrick.....they should be called ConTrick cheers from Norway Carl de Rome PS..great news that my good friend Marc Oberon took first prize in his catagory at FISM....when he eventually does come to the United States to lecture you are all in for one hell of a treat, Posted: Aug 13, 2009 1:59pm Sorry about this everyone... But in the report I have placed above about HIGHTRIK in Iran, I mentioned the name Pater Naughton, As most of you will know this should have read PETER LOUGHRAN, Sorry Peter. anyway I have just been on the telephone directly with peter as I have bought from him directly before, and he has heard about this company Hightrick, But he has never given permission to them to sell any of his goods, nor has he ever supplied them with goods either. its companies like this that needs STOPPING cheers Carl de Rome

This has been a problem for years. The best way to avoid this situation is to by from a reputable dealer.

Checked out the site, they have the coin through bill for $0.00 as a price. This is a $65.00 trick they are selling for zero. Just looking at the site you can tell something is not right.

I personally was expecting for this money only a half decent version of Bill in Lemon Trick and for the money they wanted it was worth trying, for this price I really did not think at all, Thatfor this price I would get anything like the original Lemon Game.
But also what I did not expect from a Magic Dealer was a pirated BAD RIP OFF copy of someone elses DVD and a useless thumb tip, If this company HIGHTRICK had produced there own original version DVD paid edited and filmed by them selves, I would really not have anything to complain about a DVD for $40. I have been in contact with L & L and they have told me the matter has now been passed onto there solicitors, I have also talked personally with Peter Loughran on the phone yesterday afternoon, he has heard about this company, but has personally never sold them or asked them to sell any of his goods that are on hightricks web site for sale.but did inform me that he thought they were getting his goods from another dealer without his permission. I have contacted as you know MagicSeen Magazine in the UK...and posted warnings about Hightrick on this forum, and also on http://www.themagicwoods.co.uk the best magic forum site in the England. ANYWAY I HAVE JUST HAD A E MAIL FROM HIGHTRICK THEMSELVES and I do not think they are happy at all with me, you will notice in the E mail below, they do not say at all anything about them copying and selling on other peoples work as there own. but remarkably try and pass the buck on to me. you will notice they say I am to impolite to speak, strainge as I have not talked to them as I don't think there is any point, and I for one do not really want to telephone to IRAN. Hello, Yes you have got what you ordered. we told you that we sell the trick bill in the lemon and we did so. We told you that Cris Angle has performed it in "Cris Angle made in Japan". That is what we have bought from other company and we sell it. If you did not like the item (although we explained you exactly what we offering and you confirmed!)We sure solve the problem. If it was just a misunderstanding but it seems to be fight !Just like to buy something that you know what it is and then complain to reach...........!? But you seems too impolite and unfair that this is the last email which I will send you. We never need such a customer like you that is too impolite. Lots of customers may order big illusions from our company or others companies and face some problems which can be solved by discussion .But it seems you are going to fight!Just for $40! We are wholesaler and producer of big illusions and work on big orders and never ever faced such a problem which we faced with you with this small order. I wish you were more polite to speak but there is no place to ignore your words. Also we can inform all the magazines and sites and our friends that you order something which is explained what it is before and then start to use unfair words and threaten the others . We have enough time ,power and money to inform all what you are going to do! Good luck, Mentalism Peyman, http://www.hightrick.com you make up your own minds about this company, But if you buy from them be it on your own head. cheers again all the way from Norway Carl de Rome

De rome hit them where it hurts...the pocket book.
Cancel the transaction through your credit card company for misleading you about the product. Possibly even get a letter from Peter that states his products are not sold through that company. After that throw the effects in the garbage and get one from a reputable dealer. It is unfortunate that they published in a magazine though. I would write the advertising dept and the editor to make them aware of the situation.

Is Magicseen helping police their advertisers? That would be a good gesture on their part. It's not their responsibility in the short run but over the long haul it would be worth it.

Its not the moiney at all, as its only $4o, its what these Ba£$"£%s are hoping to get away with that makes my blood boil, and they do not care at all,
Ssychic Samurai...... Magiucseen the UK Macic Magazine are dropping this company from advertising with them as from yesterday, unfortunatly I let them know 2 days to late to stop the latest advert being cancelled from the new publication, as the latest issue had gone to print. unfortunatly the next issue is going to be the biggest selling issue ever, as they have managed to get Copperfield on the front cover and a exclusive interview and photo shoot in his wharehouse of delights, this magazine will be sold world wide, and also on line as an E book, also the Hightricks adverts in the mags are really good and classy adds, not any hint at all anywhere in the adds that this company are really con merchants. and these adverts will pull in many people, just like I was pulled in with them, Lucky for me Ilearned the easy way by it only costing me $40, Some poor sods are going too, or will have already dished out 1000s of dollars to them, Anyway the fun ive had giving them crap on these forums, and personally letting them know exactly what ive done and who ive contacted about them, has been well worth the $40 it cost me anyway. and I just wish I could hear there responce when they find out that they can NO longer advertise in the UK magic magazines like Magicseen. it would be a Mastercard moment PRICELESS.... have a great week Carl de Rome Norway

Stan Allen from Magic Magazine, was the first to originally tell me that these guys were carrying my products. I told Stan, that I had not given them permission, and he thought that was probably the case, but just wanted to double check with me. I guess they were advertising in Magic, and he was investigating. I assume, but haven't noticed if Stan has ceased their adverts in his Magazine.
I would like to thank Carl de Rome for taking the time to contact me however. Its nice to know that there are guys like him in our industry, standing up for their peers, and giving a heads up when they sense something is not right. He didn't have to do that or go to the trouble of calling me from across the world, but he did! that's very cool! So thanks again Carl! Again, I beleive they have obtained my products from another dealer. I have a hunch on who this dealer is, but without proof, I will not say or mention their name. It is funny though that this dealer I supplied only took certain items, and they are the same items High Trick is offering too...hmmm. P.

I don't know why people are buying from unknown and very poor magic shops. The videos from Hightrick are bad and you can see the poor quality of props. But still, all magic magazines should have a black list of shops written in their magazines and on their web pages. Just a suggestion...
Regards Matt Oohhh and there should be a black list on the magic Café also... |
