Both Ken Scott and Kevin James produce an excellent effect called "Fantasy Magician" (Ken Scott) and "Instant Magician" (Kevin James).
Some routines which can be done easily and quickly are listed below:
What effects do you think would work well with the Fantasy Magician or Instant Magician? They should be able to be done blindfolded, easily, and quickly.

It really is not the tricks that make this routine what it is. It is the dancing, making a balloon animal, and crazy things like that.
But you named most of the tricks I do in my routine with the tux. Ken |

The main thing to do is to break down the separation between your arms and the audience member's body.
I do a version of this for adults that have included: a) 20th century panties (stuffed down the front of the guys pants) b) sponge balls through the guys ears. c) Any sort of hat production d) fake mouth coil holding your hand near mouth rather then loading in mouth. e) Give the spectator thick nerd glasses so they can't see and you can do all sorts of angle poor tricks! |

"20th century panties (stuffed down the front of the guys pants)"
That sounds very funny. Except for the fact you could be sued for literally putting the silks in someone elses pants using your hands. How could you do this in a safe (and legal) way? |

I agree this sounds very funny. Why not do 20th century bra instead? I think gently and carefully tucking the silks in a guy's shirt would be much less offensive.

I agree. You also could just pull out the guy's shirt by the collar to tuck it in. This way you do not go anywhere you shouldn't and also, it is less offensive while the silks are being placed.

Nah! Do it a kid's parties! They are immature enough to snigger at that!
I don't think any court in Australia would give money to someone because a magician stuck 2cm of hankerchief into their belt! Its all about audience management and picking the right person! |

If you can do flourishes with cards let him show off a bit before messing up...kids love messing up. Reach around to see what he's doing and accidentally poke yourself in the eye with something. Cut and restored rope could work well. Professor's nightmare. Chinese Rings. Juggling would be nice. Instead of doing magic you could do a who's line is it anyway type deal where another kid stands next to the Instant magician child and explains how to get ready for school in the morning or somthing like that and have the magic happen along the way. Use your imagination!

Fantasy Magician is the one you want for quality and visual looking like a real magician. It is a Modified Tux.

I do:
Pop a smashed top hat open and put it on his head Vanishing silk appears in pocket to silk to cane electric deck vanishing water pointing a wand to a hat on a table and have cards shoot up (card fountain) end with duck song and dance Ken Scotts Fantasy magicians is excellent. Very well made from a real tux.Had it for at least 5 years if not longer and even though I don't use it for the fantasy magician trick at every show I use the tux at every kids show putting it on them at the end of my show when they help me make a rabbit appear and the tux is still in great shape.Thought about buyng a new one in case I needed it but never had to. |

I'm new to the routine and it's a winner. Actually used it on my own son this Sunday for his bday party. Big hit. Thanks, Ken.
Would like some discussion of prop management using the tux. Where do you guys keep it during show and then how/where do you bring it out for the routine? Thanks. Jim

I love performing FM. Thanks Ken for the inspiration at Kidabra! It's been a real winner for me and I owe a lot of bookings to the routine. It plays real well for family shows and adult shows.

I performed Fantasy magician this past sunday at the magic castle on Matt Damon's(name drop) nephew. It was the best fantasy magician routine I or he for that matter has ever done. Luckily I had that show taped as well!!!.
