Well it's now half way through the bigest Fringe(alledgedly)in the world. Bit different for me this year travelling from Australia and the extra expense also leaving my new beatiful wife at home.Missing Anna is harder than I thought it would be.
Anyway magic wise there are a few performers in town Paul Nathan(funny sardonic and fun),myself,Eden(Japanese guy working the cups)Fred (from SanFrisco)Tony Roberts (really good egg escapologist and magician...and he has his voice back) Magic Brian (New York...great show and good bloke) and the rest of the crazed jugglers unicyclists pole acts from all over the world. The organisation is better this year with the stewards being more on point.30 minute walkby spots instead of 20 in one way is good but cuts 27 possible shows from the day. There are some really awesome street acts this year 'Flash' 'Space Cowboy' THE Sam Wills All of them with tight tight tight shows and rocking the pitch. Don't seem to have much time to just hang out as Ive My wee one man show in the evening...going well enough but with soooo much for folks to see it's not so easy to get them in. Late nights and beer for some and real strong focus on the job at hand for others Quite an eclectic mix. With 2 weeks to run it'll be interesting to see how it all pans out. It's all good as they say in Oz... Which is where Ill be Back home come the 5th September and ten nose to the grindstone banging out more more and more James James |

James,
I watched Eden for a bit - and he was disgraceful. His attitude, for some reason, was all wrong. Telling punters to pi** off because they won't move up to the line, repeatedly, is no way to keep or draw a crowd. He had a good spot, but he lost his crowd. There was no energy there - the show was lacklustre. I left before the C&B finale. Incidentally, where's your one man show - what venue? DCB

I thought "Edinburgh Fringe" was that stuff that hangs off the bottom edge of a kilt.

Hi my one man show is at the voodoo bar in haymarket under the auspices of the PBH free fringe...Im about to pull it though as its very hard to pull folks down from the royal mile and the centre of town...so Im sitting there twiddling my thumbs until 5 minutes after start time...so Saturday may be my last night...
still baning them out on the streets though and making book. Missing Anna so very much but Ive got my head down and my bum up working as hard as they will let me...awesome day though on Tuesday managed to work 8 rocking shows...well one of them was a bit off cause of feral kids...sheesh how I hate them... Its all good though JJx |

Too bad - it's hard enough to get bums on seats in the pay-per-seat fringe in the centre of the City. Haymarket is MILES away! But - it gets very busy down that way. Ever tried a sidewalk show out there? Or anywhere other than the designated spots, for that matter?
Cheers, DCB

James,
You must be the hardest working act in Edinburgh... seems every time I pass the High Street, you're just finishing a show.. hope the weather holds for the last few days, and you can fly back to Australia with the good news..! DCB

James,
Still never got to see the full show,.. but hell, I heard the applause so many times.. it MUST have been good. So, let me get this right... you swallow say, 6 ballons a day, for say, 3 weeks... that's 6 times 21,.. well, hey.... that's over .... err... 100!!! How's your arse? Joke question, of course... let's see how long it stays valid, shall we? Regards, DcB

Did Eden every get his act together? I know he was pretty upset over a day gone all wrong.

I didn't get a real chance to watch Eden let alone any others performing...I was on pitch all day from 10am ish to 8pm then to my evening gig...it was all a hard slog but very very well worth it...wish Id got my tall table out sooner would have made more of a killing...From what I saw of Eden he was a good guy although I expect he may have made the wrong choice of working the big pitch and shoule have stuck it out on the alcove wee !!!pitches and would have made more$$$ as well as becoming an even tighter show...Good on him though for putting his best foot forward though...Am back in OZ at home with my beautiful woman and livin the vida loca...

Thanks Vernon. I'll have to ask him about it. He's very good about learning from disasters.
