Do I need to say more? Let me first congratulate to one of the biggest SHOWMAN who is not other than Senor Ray. You can see him now in two parts. Sorry about the video quality is not the best.

Thank you for putting this up. Rai has certainly done it all.

It is a shame that his input is not here any longer. But he certainly does not have to pay his dues...he already did many times over.

Let see someone stage an asrah center ring.

At the risk of speaking for Rai, he does not need nor deserve the disrepect he was getting here. The people that want to keep in contact with him can. I will gladly furnish his personal contact information to them.

He was verbally attacked and was not defended. He decided it was not worth participating here.

I guess I missed that. Senor Rai is one of the few legends still living. His knowledge of magic is unsurpassed. I am sure that those who were disrespecting him are of no real importance. They are people with little knowledge and pretend to know more than they know. Richard please ask him to come back to the Café.

It is a sad reflection of the anonymity that the internet provides. Anyone is welcome here to make up a name to hide behind, and then contribute their personal opinions here, without regard to common(?) courtesy. They type things that most would NEVER say face to face, and that is empowering to them.

The moderators here have a huge challenge monitoring the hundreds of messages a day, and I believe that they are spread too thin. They are good at preventing any bad mouthing of magic dealers, but can't keep up with the nonsense and personal attacks that are rife throughout this website. It's not all their fault, it takes a lot of hours of actual work, for which they are not being paid. However, it is a continuing issue that I wish could be addressed someday in the future.

And, as Richard said, it is the reason that 99% of the real pros stay away from here, which is a loss for those of us who could learn so much from their input.
However, when they do, some idiot feels the need to pop up and say, "I saw you on TV and your split fans suck!" and there goes another pro, signing off for good.

:(

Nobody wants to participate if it's not interesting, enlightning, or invigorating for them and no board can do that for everyone.

As Christopher says, people get to hide behind pseudonyms and it empowers some of them to be jerks.

I wouldn't mind coming out from behind the pseudonym, frankly, and a few here know me by my own name.

Maybe that would be helpful. No pseudonyms allowed.

I dunno.

I've noticed that same kind of pseudonymous mean-spiritedness on other chat boards and forums.

I finally left one place where I've been a regular for a decade, simply because the political talk was getting mean and the verbiage tended toward thinly-disguised racism.

People wear disguises and this frees them to say horrible things.

Meanwhile...mods are usually underpaid or not paid at all...doin' it for the love...and they miss things...and they catch all kinds of excrement from all directions, and, eventually, they leave, too. Frustrated.
And we are then the poorer for their loss as well.

I've said elsewhere that, for some reason, the vent thread here is supportive and sweet in ways that the magic threads aren't.
In fact, I left this place once for almost a year, simply because of the meanness...and returned specifically BECAUSE of the vent thread.

I am in mourning over the absence of Sr. Rai.

Rumor has it that Copperfield used to drop by here from time to time...but doesn't anymore because of the meanness.
I dunno. Could just be rumor.
I suspect there's a long list of pros who have passed through and refused to stay. Perhaps some of the old timers here could provide such a list.

I dunno...maybe using our real-world names would help to solve at least some of this.

Perhaps the bad/good ratio is off balance here for those without thick skin.
