To those that just attended MagicLive, what was THE trick ( If Any ) that had the dealer room buzzing?

Nothing really. Other than Kenner's awesome Super Fly, I didn't see anything new or buzz worthy. (although Losander's floating tables are always amazing to watch).

The two best things were not in the dealer's room, nor will you see them advertised. Why? The creators don't want them picked apart on the internet. You can thank the Café member who thought it wise to expose a recent popular new release on here (He was referenced specifically) and those who insist on exposure by committee for that.

The best new stuff I saw was what Daniel Garcia will be coming out with on his new DVDs, and he was showing A LOT. If you have an iPhone, you'll love it; if you don't, you'll want one now!

The Bromley Deck Penetration was the coolest thing I saw out there, and the only thing I bought. I know it's not new but it was the first time I've ever seen it. If you don't know of it, you must check it out. Zoran's Lit Candle Mystery was also pretty wild. I watched him perform it over and over again at the Hocus Pocus booth and I still don't know how it works.

Magic Live Dealer Highlights (not in any particular order)
Wolf's Magic - Sneeker Tweeker. Wolf's new burned and restored Sneaker effect looks great! It does not use a box and will be an awesome addition. Hopefully photos will be up soon. Retails for 1200.00 including ATA Case Alakazam Magic is selling Michael Vincent's Silver Rhapsody DVDs. I haven't had a chance to watch yet. Peter Nardi also has a new effect calls iChange with a routine that switches four pockets cards with thos in his hand. It comes with a DVD with other effects Mark Mason had several new effects. Double deception is essentially a visual coin thru silk routine. He also had Power Pack which is a utility that looks like a deck that electronically does Coin hru card case and jumping card frog like effects. He also had a signed card to card case effect called. ICase that elecronically switches card. Losander was selling the Magic Box levitation. Levit Wands were on sale for 10% off for custom made wands. Hocus Pocus had the Zoran Lit Candle Mystery that is fascinatining. They were also selling Blackout. Wellington Enterprises was selling a new effect with a stack of 5 wooden colored disks that are placed on a spindle, covered and inverted and rights itself. That efeect retails for 495.00 Jamie Schoolcraft had Kenners Superfly (600.00 peace dollars, 800.00 Morgans). He said the Peace Dollars actually work better. He also has a new 3CM that has an exp****** sh*** and the last coin is a fl***** called 3CF. I hink it is 425.00 or 450.00. Creative Magic debuted it's new Pandora Nag which is a see through (netted) bag that can be shown empty and allows the performer to add force billets to bag invisibly. Card Shark had new ink blot cards and also had this interesting effect with a leather strap wrapped around the spec little finger that penetrates when pulled taut. The effect is centered on the ability to tell if someone is lying. They also sold somegreat velvet pouches for their Heirloom Decks that are black with a pentacle or purple with a Celtic symbol embroided on the front. They were also selling some Sharpie covers called Shepra. They are classy covers for Sharpie pens. Twister had their new pop corn machine. It's essntially a popcorn box that creates the illusion of popping corn, sound included. Creasy had a new effect called bowlng pin production that looks great as an opening effect. If anyone wants specifics, let me know. I spent a lot of te talking to the dealers. |

Author John Harrison was signing his new biography, "Spellbound: The Wonder-Filled Life of Doug Henning." The signing was on the first night and I made a beeline for the H&R Books stand. I not only got it autographed, it included a bookplate stating that it was #14 of 100 "First Off Press Collector's Copies" at Magic Live! Can you say "happy camper?"
Just started the book, but it reads very well so far. Doug Henning was such a major force in rekindling interest in magic several decades ago. As John Harrison states, this will probably be the first of several biographies of an incredibly influential magician. |

Great dealer room this year! They had a cool incentive the first night to encourage business, every $20 one spent, one received a raffle ticket and an opportunity to win one of eighteen cases with some pretty remarkable prizes...including a Losander table Random Fate by Creative Magic a trip to see LeGrand David and a lifetime subscribtion to MAGIC.
John, the guy who bought Cresey's business was selling Michael Mode's Bowling Pin Production and Napkin Rose products at the convention. I guess Michael and John are friends so they worked out a deal. I saw Michael and Arthur Trace's creativity talk and he opened with it....awesome. Did anyone else buy the appearing helicoptor? HA! Was that some display! |
