Hi gang,
I don't use my Hartz Old lady figure often and I figured I need to... to be able to get back the money I spent for her I bought a very short story book with an English and Tagalog (our native language) translations and was thinking of trying out a storytelling thing for kids. Perhaps I can read the English translation while the figure can read the Tagalog translation. Maybe, the figure can make some funny remarks once in awhile I tried it out last night..and trying it out today...and it feels cool. Might just be a different approach in storytelling and could possible generate more gigs for me. What do you think? I plan to try it out on Saturday for a TV network anniversary show for kids Thanks Wanlu

It's on one of his videos. I'll have to check to see which one.

Kimmo does storytelling, in fact, it may be a variation of Steve Taylor's that he customized. (I remember reading something about that...) Neale Bacon also recently placed a storytelling skit on Youtube.

What I'm planning to do on Saturday is actually read a storybook I read the English translation while the figure reads the native dialect translation...might be worth the try

Just saw Neale's video...what a coincidence, the book I bought is The Frog Prince. But the story is different...
What I have in mind is totally different...what I plan to do is actually read a book...in two dialects I hope it works just as well and just as fun I guess I'll find out on Saturday Wanlu

Wanlu,
Just looked at the pic of the Hartz figure and thought you might be able to easily convert her into Mother Goose for storytelling! A different dress, a bonnet and put a stuff goose in her arms and you'd be ready to go. Might even be fun to rig the goose to open it's beak so it could chime in on occasion. Tom |

In my Christmas show we read our version of Night Before Christmas and I find the hardest part is handling the puppet and the book.
I may be dropping it this year though. Too many people accused me of straling it from Jeff's Christmas special. Funny thing is both his and my routines are based on an old Bergen/McCarthy routine.

I'll try it out this Saturday and take some pictures and post a feedback
I have not seen Jeff's Christmas vidoes...let me check in YouTube. I found a series of short storybooks and all of them have English and Tagalog (native language) translations...could be worth the shot. Might just work...parents love to see their kids involved in book reading and storytelling with moral lessons

Hi Gang,
Lola Osna did her first storytelling gig today...it turned out well and the kids were attentive. No punchlines...just an actual reading of a book, just 5 pages. I read the English translation while Lola Osna read the Tagalog (native language) translation plus a few funny remarks I'll try it again soon in a school show I plan to milk the routine by offering some prizes to the kids who can answer questions I will ask after the book reading...I'm giving away some pens with animated mouth..they punch too http://kadoopsypuppets.multiply.com/phot......photo=33 http://kadoopsypuppets.multiply.com/phot......photo=34 http://kadoopsypuppets.multiply.com/phot......photo=35 Thanks Wanlu

We tell stories based on our family.
Grandpa Charlie, his grandson Nigel, grandaughter grace, and great grand daughter Charlie. Rather than doing one liners, I find twisting real life stories work for me. In addition we do fractured fairytales.(ala the old bullwinkle show) Enjoy your journey into stories...your own and classic folktales. Harris
