Often I wont get the search terms right on the first try for something. Having to wait for a timeout to try again is really, really annoying.

Is there really a good reason for this limit?

It's been discussed a lot here in this forum and in the Tech forum. The gurus explain it completely.

Too much irony for words...

The wait time between searches is only 2 minutes. As Ed mentioned, this has been asked and discussed many times. Knowing there is a small wait time, you could just go to the tech forum and scan down the topics looking for a topic with Search in it but if you can't wait 2 minutes, then randomly looking may bo too time consuming for you. I've saved you the time by giving you a link to a lengthy topic about this subject.

For what its worth, the forum software clearly is inadequate to scale to the task at hand.

As someone who DOES build massively scalable systems that include database backends (massively multiplayer online games), it shouldn't have to 'search through millions of entries' every time you do a search. This is why god invented indexes and hash keys.

But I accept the fact that this particular package is being pushed well beyond what it was designed for and/or is running on an inadequately scaled hardware platform.
