If you are trying to do an authentic remote viewing demonstration then the double blind method is the way to go. That means the spectator doing the selecting doesn't know what he selected until after the remote viewers reveal. That cancels out mind reading as the possible solution. I would also read one of the many books out there written by actual remote viewers for some of the different techniques they use.

I've had luck with a home-made version of the MentalPictoria Deck. I drew pictures of simple objects on double blank cards with my Sharpie. The effect as I've been doing it is thought reading wherein I then draw the same picture on a large blank cardboard from across the room. I'm thinking about what Kevin just said about 'double blind' but I'm feeling that doing it as thought reading of what the volunteer is looking at is more believable. I'll continue to think about the option, and also I'll keep my eye out for books by real remote viewers. There are some in Russia. Regards, Gregg Webb

As Kevin mentioned, most RV in mentalism is a pale shadow of what the real thing is like. There are several important differences. One is the common use of controls and real test conditions. Randomization is central to this. The targets are usually preselected and success relies on the remote viewer successfully describing the target in the opinions of independent judges.

This suggests an effect that is definitely potentially of the 'major' effect form. This is just off the top of my head.

Multiple targets are introduced in photograph sets or perhaps as a series of pre-recorded videos. A committee randomly choses a target, which selection is blind to all. The performer as viewer describes the target in highly specific terms. These are displayed, written or in some way memorialized so the whole audience can see them. At the conclusion the committee (or if you really like playing with fire the audience) "judges" the success of the viewer. As a finale' a video of the site is played showing the location from multiple angles and in the process revealing minute details mentioned by the performer in passing.

Let's see how long it takes for someone to actually start performing this.
