I just received this last Friday and had a chance to work with it over the weekend, and, I like it. At first the price freaked me out a bit, but so far, I've never felt cheated by Mr. Mason. This offering is no exception.
Basically, the effect is as it reads (and as shown in the link below). It is in fact another card to box effect, but unlike John Kennedy''s Mystery Box, (which I love by the way), this box has a reason for being on the table. I won't explain the effect since it's not new, but instead concentrate on the positives and negatives. On the positive sides, this effect is very well made, simple to install, easy to operate, and works flawlessly. You supply the card box, but everything else comes with the package. If you can do a Mercury card fold, you are set to go, and Mark's DVD is no nonsense and easy to follow. As I elude to above, my favorite thing about this trick is its innocence. Once you do the fold and show the card gone from the deck, you look down at the innocent card box, pick it up, and gently shake it. There is an audible rattle (you can't do this with the Mystery Box). Open the box and a folded card slides out and lay across the flap. From here on out, the gimmick does most of the dirty work for you. It's quiet and smooth. On the down side, there isn't much to say. It's expensive, and it's mechanical. So, things can wear out eventually and potentially break. However, the workings are hand-crafted with care, so I suspect the unit will give you many, many performances. I like this as a very, very strong alternative to the Mystery Box. A lot of you will still prefer the mystique of the wooden box. It is a curious object and begs questions, and that can be good. But others of you may like the same effect done with an everyday object...this version is for you. Recommended. http://www.murphysmagicsupplies.com/vide......DEO1.wmv

What's wrong with a BULLDOG Clip? Looks cool though.

The bulldog clip works but the effect would play differently. With the Mystery Box and E-Case the effect is that the card disappears into the case/box. The bulldog clip and Paperclipped, the card basically changes place with a preexisting card.

You're right Kissdadookle, but the fundamental difference in the effect (not the actual method), is that the card disappears from the deck and reappears in an impossible location. With the bulldog and Paperclipped, the folded card is in view the entire time, the implication being that the card defied physics and was in more than one place at one time.

Depends on what you want the effect to be. I don't perform either so, not really my decision to make I've played with both but usually I just resort o card in wallet.

There is also david stones CELL where the card apears in the CELL phone.. I love these effects.. I have mystery Box and I have Cell and somtimes when I'm feeling over ambitious and when a spectator says my god do that again I sometimes say ok
the box is empty I put lid on, then place my phone on top of the box... and then do it again I snap the deck then ask spectator to take phone of then look in box there is nothing in it I say strange. ok will try again.. place the phone back on box snap deck look in box nothing I then say strange maybe it couldn't get all the way through the phone... I pick up the phone take the cover of and they see a card in there... tip it out and hand them the card to open themselves.. GET a GREAT reaction... but I don't allways do it as I think its over kill to be honest.. but on the rare occasion I will do it.... But back to E-case ... when I saw this I thought Oh yes and to be honest I still think that but the price I thought was a little high So I will have to think about it.. but Looks good none The Less.. and when you think of the time and effort that's gone in to the development of the gizmo then maybe it is worth it just my two cents worth... lol Stephen

The Pro comments were so generic, so I passed on it.
"That's just great." - David Blaine "I like to stand and watch the gimmick." - Bill Malone "Terrific idea." - R Paul Wilson "Great Idea." - John Bannon "Shut my mouth." - Eugene Berger "That's great." - Greg Wilson

I saw this demmed live last week. It looks phenominal as the retention of vision is amazing and the conditions are ridiculously fair. It's very good and the gimmick is extremely well made. But it's not going to be for everyone. You have to devote a card case to the trick which cannot hold a deck of cards. Not something I would personally use but I can see other performers using this with great success. If you like to fool magicians, you would probably love it!

Nothing wrong with that as they buy the bulk of new tricks on the market (I should know ). But it's expensive to just lay around. Someone that performs full time for a living won't bother with it because they can do card to box without the gimmick. I'm sure that it is a quality product, but the fact that it can't hold a deck of cards is the real decider.
