There's an old maxim that applies here.

In a personal service business (i.e. you personally deliver the service) never compete on price. It's a sucker bet.

Of course this doesn't mean you can charge the earth. It just means to compete on service (broadly defined, which would include the quality of your show.)

How would you prefer to pitch a client?

"I'm cheaper."

or

"I'm better."
I'm selling my hardcover autographed limited edition copy of Jerome Finley's "Thought Veil"

There's an old saying in the consulting business (in which I spent the better part of 40 years). When you present your price to the client you say, "That'll be $100,000." If he doesn't flinch you say, "for phase one." I've priced my corporate work almost the same way. Different numbers, however.
