Just an update and some corrections. I have found out that Steve approached Jody with the concept of a wringer but using a different method. Feeling that it needed a more deceptive solution, Jody and Roger came up with the Wringer as pictured. The workings, concealment, design and construction of the prop were their contribution. Steve put in some sweat equity on color, handle and gear details. They no longer build them, instead focusing their attention on their own show in Hawaii.

Glad this is cleared up. It just goes to show that an idea takes a lot more to make it a workable reality.

The press is a work of art.

I guess that includes all three of us.

Or maybe we are just trying to help a bit and give back.

I saw Jim today. He does not have a wringer effect. Are you referring to Squozed? More of a crushing onto a picture effect.

Thanks for the input Craig, I will try to clarify what the "Human Wringer" is (really)

Out of curiousity is the effect that Nathan Burton does with the wringers moving up the front of a cabinet, his creation?

Kyle,

Have you watched the Baran/Capps version in performance?? When the top lifts up, it is quite amazing.

It should be the Valenti/Capps version as they created this together! (Giving Credit Where Credit Is Due)

Rafael,

I am referring to the one actually built by Baran/Capps, a far better looking unit.

Google is AMAZING!!

The "Mangle Box of Doom"

It would seem to be this builders' name for one of "his" illusions.

http://www.stagemagician.com/illusions.html

There is a photo of it there, with the name that you have given. Without seeing it performed, it looks like a standard prop. Perhaps Youtube might have a video of it from the show it was built for.

I am sure the builder can send you pricing, and perhaps a performance video.

Blair

(P.S. You know what would be REALLY GREAT??? Add some info to your profile!)

A search of YOUTUBE turned up this video under Mangle Box.

It looks like (possibly?) the same illusion. It's also a British performer.

That looks more like the one on the site, shorter table and a wheel as the cranking mech.
