Hm. I havent had a particular problem with Hank Lee.
Having said that I don't generally buy from him unless he has a good sale as I think his every day prices tend to be on the high side. Other then that the only issue I have with hank is a lot like the issue I had with Tannens... he stocks a ton of stuff and I don't think its easy to tell whats good from whats not. If Im paying retail I prefer to work witha dealer who is selective. Which is why I like Peter Nardi's Alakazam. Not everything he stocks appelas to me, but everything I have gotten from him has been a winner.

So the ads is misleading? I'm sure the gimmick is pretty simple as it can be inserted into a deck of card.
Maybe we should send Jesse some e-mails and see what his response?

Id say, based on what Craig showed in his brief flash of gimmick on the show, at bear minimum Jesse's claim of a "great new material never before used for this" is pretty far fetched.
I wont judge his demoes myself although given what Im pretty sure the gimmick is when completed, I think a few of the handlings in the trailer might be pretty difficult to get to work reliably. But what p-od Criag the most is apparently that he feels this is a straight rip-off of someone else's previously published effect with no noticeable improvement. Watch the Wizard Product Review. Craig is a lot more knowledgeable then me (and has seen the real thing as well as the one he says is the original.) And if he is selling magic and isn't watching the WPR, IMO he's nto doing his homework. Im sure someone will tell him soon enough about the review.

If I'm not mistaken, couple months back or years, there were discussions in here about him and his effects.

So the Nestor's version is more versatile than his? It looks good tho and magical.

It seems like Jesse's stuff is always either utter crap or a rip-off. I would never buy a JF product as long as I've got a functioning mind.

Wow! What happened to Jesse? No, I’m in no way trying to belabor the subject and get on his case (I think that’s pretty well been taken care of). However, just out of curiosity I clicked on his profile to view his past posts as I was a little surprised that he in no way tried to defend himself here (if he indeed could) and I simply wanted to see when his last post was. I realize that the on-site search engine has been disabled, but one is still able to view the posts that they have replied to. If I click on anyone’s profile I can view all of their past posts. However, when I click on his profile to do the same thing……nothing, and it simply brings me back to the Café homepage! Of course that could very well be that he has not made any post within the last 30 days. But, considering he has made 1039 posts it would seem as though he is a regular visitor. Then again, while I was on this thread three days ago I did indeed see him as being online. One would certainly think that he would at least try to defend himself in any possible way that he could?
By the way, I ran across a thread here somewhere (just a shame the search feature is no longer working) with an effect he has where a matchbook is used and the “striker” strip moves and comes off or something to that effect. Is that a new effect/release as I can’t seem to find it on his site? Perhaps a review on it by Craig and David? (whatever its name is……anyone?)

It's on theory11 sadly I've seen this before also many years ago. It's not my position to say to t11 as I have had a less than favorable interaction with the young man where he tried to claim one of my own effects as his own. It would look like I was simply holding a grudge.

Nestor's version is an entire DVD with material to make the gimmick and instructions.
The DVD is by Jean Luc Bertrand so it is VERY detailed with at least 10 tricks. James

You have to admit that you don't see that too often these day's on DVD's that include a gimmick, and or the material to make one. Just might look it up to see if its still available as it sounds very interesting! Just out of curiosity I was looking at a few demos of his tricks (Jesse) and I just don’t know? From what I’ve seen, they look like they have more cuts than if someone tried to condense “Gone With The Wind” into a half hour movie! I can somewhat figure out some of the workings on them, but there is no way on earth they can look (at least the few I looked at) that way in real life! Then again, I don’t have them so perhaps I’m misjudging. Just an observation on my part.

It certainly would have been a better movie.
Just fuse the part about them cutting off the soldiers leg with Rhett Butler saying he was going to build a dam, then Scarlett throwing up. 30 fun filled minutes. Funny enough, there has been an argument on a French magic forum regarding the originality of the Nestorizer and the lack of crediting. It seems it is hugely based on the Cardini's Rising Card even if the creator says it's not...

I have the Nestorizer gimmick and DVD. This is great material and I love it. But I think I found how to build a "nestorizer" in the Tarbell Course ...
Tarbell calls it "Cardini´s Rising Card" and mentions the principle is very old, and he also refers to it as "Jumping Card". Then there follows a detailed description with grahpics to build the gimmick and a nice routine. Maybe I have got something wrong, but check it (Tarbell) out. I think it's the same gimmick principle. My 2 cents, Michael |
