Best idea in a very very... very long time! --> REALLY GREAT!!!
======================================== Christopher you wrote: "A few months after "ALONE" is released we will be releasing a second companion DVD with an expansion pack, because there was quite simply too much to fit on one DVD" Can you tell us something about what the expansion pack will be? |

Besides myself and Matthew, Mozique and Looch of the UK, Tony Chris, and Jeff McBride are just some of the contributors. Here are some incomplete hints:
• Discerning someone's PIN number. • All Seeing Eye (I love this one): Participant has a free choice of a card, which is signed and lost in the deck. While the performer has his back to the action, the participant deals cards face down until the performer says stop. The card they are holding is found to be their chosen card. And this is done with A BORROWED deck! • A shamanistic-style performance piece. • PK Touch in which the performer feels a participant's touch......... and a lot more. PLUS, the ALONE gimmick is easily removed from the business cards and placed into other everyday objects; the possibilities boggle the mind. Christopher |

Well this does seem to be "The business". I can't wait, got lots of ideas running through my head, as I am sure lots of people have right now.
One for starters - a borrowed deck is shuffled by a spec and they cut off a portion of cards. Any amount they wish. They look through them noting how many are red or black. The magician who sees nothing tells them how many cards they have and how many are red and how many black... My thoughts are drifting towards routines that can be played much bigger for a stage presentation. Fun fun fun. J |

John, have you been peeking at the secret demo video collection for ALONE ;o)
I am so glad you are all enjoying ALONE & are begining to see the endless possibilities. All of the performances & routines you are seeing at the moment are included on a DVD with the ALONE unit to get you started right out of the box. The expansion pack is going to be VERY exciting. As Christopher mentioned it will come with guest contributors routines & extra gimmicks to use with your ALONE unit. For ALONE owners the expansion pack will be very very exciting indeed! To touch on something else Christopher mentioned, "The ALONE gimmick can be removed & placed in other everyday objects!". Who knows, there may be an expansion pack 3 as we just begin to venture into the exciting world of putting ALONE into other everyday objects :o) Matt Johnson |

Alone seems very versitile. Is it practical to use Alone for different effects during the same performance? Could this be used during a blindfold demonstration?
Thanks Steve |

Good question Steve, but not as easy to answer as you may think. In terms of leaving the gimmick in the cards, there are certainly combinations of effects that work well. The "Which Hand" followed later by "Any Card Thought of", for example. Moving the gimmick from the cards to something else in front of an audience would require some creative planning.

Sorry Steve, I forgot to respond to the blindfold part of your post. Yes, there is a vibration-based receiver so you can certainly use a blindfold. Cheers.

Chris & Matt have done a great job with this. Looks great and certainly is to mentalism as the thumb tip is to magic. Endless possibilities..

Thanks Marc!
That is what we were going for all along, a truly diverse piece of kit. It's an important point to mention that ALONE has just as many opportunities for the magician as it does for the mentalist. As well as being a stealth electronic device it is also perfectly set up for "Out to lunch" type work. The possibilities of combining the electronics with the "Out to lunch" principal boggle the mind! better sign off as I have a day full of shows. Next video coming Monday so keep your eyes peeled! Hi All,
OK, it's time for the 4th installment in the ALONE video series. Both Christopher & I could not decide on the 4th video to be released so I made an executive decision this morning. You may wonder why I chose this video? Well it seems there is some interest in the penny for your thoughts section at the moment in the game of clue/cluedo, this video therefore seemed like the perfect fit for this week. The principal used is one we came up with for ALONE called the staggered list principal. It works very well & can be used with any number of different things/objects. It can also be quite effective when used in conjunction with other effects such as the time prediction you see in the routine. ALONE demo #4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5swhzsTIF30 Enjoy! I love the way this "simple" system can be applied in lots of ways...
Nice thinking looks like fun and simple to use. |
