As many of you know, the Third Edition of Expert Card Technique had two additional chapters by Dai Vernon and Dr. Jacob Daley.

These additional chapters, 'A Lesson in Card Handling' by Vernon, and 'The Side Steal and Some of its Finer Points' by Daley, are delightful.

Why has no one tried to reprint this book? Are there copyright restrictions?

In short, yes. There are many copyright issues.
Dover bought the 2nd edition. I believe Faber of the UK has the 3rd edition rights and did reprint it. As you can probably imagine, there isn't a whole lot of profit in the magic book business. It's usually a labor of love for those books we love so much. Caveney doesn't make his money from books, he's a landlord of sorts, Allan Slaight's tomes on Stewart James were possible because of his billionaire status, etc.

Republishing old books yields very little very often.

There are many members who post like mad ín a very short time just to arrive at 50 posts. When they finally have access to the secret session forum, the disappointment is fully deserved. Smile

I remember when I first registered on the site. I wondered, I wonder what IS in that secret area? Got a little excited.

When I reached 50 posts I went over to the secret area and was not disappointed. There aren't any mind blowing secrets in there but the reading is good.

Don't feel bad...just log into The Café and it magically appears as the Banquet Room at the bottom of the forum index page...
