Richard Ireland was perhaps the first of his kind to pioneer the demonstration of Psychic phenomena on television, starting in the early 1960's, on programs such as Joe Pyne, Alan Burke, and the Steve Allen show, yet I have never seen him discussed here. He always maintained that his powers were real, and his son continues to promote his father through books and appearances.
Here is a link to a page with a few videos, most notable 2 videos of Richard Ireland on the Steve Allen Show: http://www.drrichardireland.com/video.html I am aware that many mentalists, especially old school mentalists, never broke character and made many such wild claims, but the video shows nothing more than a blindfold test, and even Steve Allen, who was a magician himself from what I understand, seemed to be fooled by him. What are peoples feelings on him and his act and claims?
Never criticize someone else until you have walked a mile in their shoes. Then, when you do criticize them, you will be a mile away from them and you will have their shoes.

Hmmm ok. Just curious why a "real deal" psychic would need the questions written down at all in the first place, and to handle the questions like he does, but I am just a skeptical magician

The Q/A is really entertaining. He uses a lot of dry humor in the presentation. So at least in this presentation he emphasizes the entertainment-factor and not his "powers".
I like it. |

I think that we all have access to an " inner-guidance ", I am not saying that's how he did his Q & A with, but we all have been given the gift of intuition IMO.
So I'd say he's the real deal too.
Self concept is destiny..

Docc Hilford Knew Ireland. While he is the special guest, you might want to ask him.

I agree that we all have psychic moments and some more than others but the demonstration on the Steve Allen show that Richard did was an act. I have been doing the tape and blindfold method in the same way for more than 12 years and it is obvious in the whole tape up session caught on video what he is doing. Unless you know what you are looking for and have the experience of doing it you would not notice how exactly he is doing the work. I don’t want to take anything away from his performance which was excellent. But this was not a real demonstration.
