Dear all,

I'd like to know more about Chapeaugraphy. I know this from one of Bill Tarr's books. Any information will be helpful. If possible, I prefer internet source/website. Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Budi Ha Ha

Folks,

I found one: http://www.chap-o.com/index.html Very nice site. Have you tried their products? What do you think?

Do you know who uses chapeaugraphy in their shows today?

I'm still looking for other sources. So please help me. Thanks!

Junge Junge of Germany does a great Chapeaugraphy act and Doc Swan here in the US does a charming routine. The Chap-o product is good, but the instruction book will not help you put an act together. Abbott's magic in Colon, Michigan has the best Chapeaugraphy ring and booklet available.

Thanks for your information!

I will try to look at Abbot's magic.

BTW do you know about video or DVD which contain this act?

Thanks again!

Lybrary.com has a CD Rom called Chapeaugraphy Collection - it's a collection of classic, long out of print texts on the subject. There's also a good bit in the Harold Sterling section of Kid Stuff 6 by Francis Marshall. Frances also published two small books on chapeaugraphy - one a kid show routine, the other based on ladies fashion hats. I think Abbotts also sell a routine with a brim.

I don't know of any videos/DVDs. I believe Harry Anderson does/did a chapeau routine, but I don't know if it's available in any form.

Get or make a rim (the Chapo ones are nice), learn a bunch of folds and make up a story to link some together. The main problem is that in the old days most people wore hats - a lot of the shapes are a bit obscure now - Ed Wynn, for example.

Cheers,

Bill

Thanks Bill,

I will check Lybrary.com.

I have tried this once, and I think the audience like it.

I have a Chap-O from Harry Anderson himself. They come in different sizes though—his is extra large.

It's a fun thing to try.

Harry has done a routine on TV:

SNL performance
Comic Relief 2

See my website under ACT—for more on Harry and chapeaugraphy.
