Not that I have found yet.
I did notice that you can text friends that appear in the app and get robot/general respones.
I've been training these cards since they were small.

Can someone PM me on how to make my name appear? I have added it to the settings but it does not appear nor does the spectators name.
Thanks: Ron |

Your name and the spectator name won't be used each time. If you've entered them, you're good to go. Usage of either/both names seems to be random in my experience.

There's also some messages that interacts : If you say thank you, or thanks after the playing card is revealed, you receive another answer such as, you're welcome.
Does anybody has a list of interactive messages in the application ? I also like the fact that you can customize up to 15 answers of your own and reveal anything you want, such as a time, a name, a prediction of any kind. This is great. It looks so real, and fools even more people that owns an Iphone. They really believe we just texted Penn & Teller, so funny Really worth a buck 99 |

If you look at the ACTUAL history of the method being discussed (re: entering the information), it was previously published, (as an app), prior to all references above.
So, it may be wise to do one's homework before tossing around accusations that are not backed by the public record. As an app, the P&T piece is sweet. I really like it. Funny, convincing, easy. Lovely. Ben Harris

I came across this thread and thought I'd contribute a little.
I released my first magic app in October 2008 'iThought Receiver', which effectively uses a (very) simplified version of the method attributed to P&T's app, and Rising Card. In fact iThought Receiver was a free iPhone web app many months before it was released as a native app. I also seem to remember Ben contacting me at the time. Not sure if he remembers, so I'm not sure if I'm the one he's referring to in his last post. I make no claims of originality on this front. Secretly entering information is a fairly obvious step for this type of app. I'd also like to add that both P&T's and Rising Card existing at all is amazing. In the beginning Apple seemed to enforced it's HIG (Human Interface Guidelines) more fiercely. For example, one of the guidelines regarding custom application controls says: "Avoid designing a custom icon that looks too similar to a system-provided icon." Obviously redesigning the whole home screen is a brave decision. Anyway, hope this was mildly interesting and you won't mind the shameless plug. Matt Leatherbarrow http://www.alakazapps.com |

I still think Pen & Teller's App is the best one to date.
The custom choices, the real quality, everything is unbeatable. This app doesn't have anything "weird." It's the only app that uses what normal phones usually have. No magical spirals, weird virtual decks. It's close to reality. Can't beat that. Unless someone ends up designing a trick around voicemails. That would be cool. A interface that allows you to record YOUR voice. Then input the card choose with similar means as P&T's app and then it displays a recorded voice mail from YESTERDAY with your voice saying what card they picked. That would be the best app. I will wait while you all make it. (Ben, get on top of this one...haha) -Jacob

I would just tell them to message either my friend teller or penn. I wouldn't go into explaining who they are

If you follow Penn on Twitter he sent a link to "The Stripper's Guide to Penn & Teller's iPhone App." I'm not going to post it here because apparently the stripper exposes one of her "assets"...

So does anybody has found some interactive words that looks like you are having a real chat beside "thanks" and "thank you"?
Also, I strongly suggest to have the person write down the card or the word on a piece of paper, then do a center tear or a peek. You'll have a much stronger impact on the effect, regardless if the person knows Penn & Teller or not. By having someone found out the "thought" card through text messaging is strong enough whether they know who you are texting or not. Stephane. |

Just noticed that they had an update for the App. Something about an error they were having with BLANK contact names...problem fixed.
I never had the problem...but cool. -Jacob

I just bought this. Very excited to use this come Monday. If you use it long enough you can handle it without ever showing that unconvincing screen and just entering the selection without looking as shown in demo.
