Devils beat the ducks 3-0 to become the Stanley Cup 2003 winner. But still tip my hat off to Mighty Ducks for having a GREAT playoff run.

Well, The ducks have just won 5-2 tonight and the series is tied 3-3. So anything could happen now as Game 7 will be played on Monday for the Stanley Cup 2003.

The Devil's won the Stanley Cup... Great, there is now justification to take the greatest game on earth, and turn it in to the most boring game on earth because it wins the championship. I turned the game off after the frist 10 minutes of the third period because I was so bored because any time any member of the Devil's got the puck, he would just ice it. What kind of hockey is that? Let me set the record straight... I HATE THE DEVIL'S!!!!! They are the most BORING team to watch in ANY sport. I wish they would trade Martin Brodeur away so we could see how good a goalie he is on a team that isn't so defense oriented.
Needed to get that off my chest... Jeff

Jeff,
They might change the rules of the NHL next year. Trying to make the games faster and more exciting. Lee |

Lee,
They say that EVERY year... They were supposed to cut down on obstruction, but that lasted only till about February. The current ideas are to increase the size of the goal, increase the size of the ice behind the goal, shorten the distance between the blue lines, and decrease the size limits on goalie pads. All of which aren't going to make the game a bit more entertaining. Some of the most entertaining games I have seen, ended in 2-1 wins in overtime, but generated over 75 shots. My proposals would be simple: 1) At the end of each game, the game is reviewed by an officiating team, and any "missed" call, the official would either be fined, or lose "points" and then the officials with the most points at the end of the season would get to officiate in the playoffs. 2) Get rid of the stupid 2 line pass rule. All this rule does is prevent breakaways, which are the most exciting plays. 3) Outside of a penalty kill situation, if a team attempst to ice the puck in 2 consecutive posessions, a delay of game penalty will be assessed. All 3 of those situations will speed up the game, generate more scoring opportunities, and prevent mediocre teams like the Devil's from just wrapping up the exciting players in the game, and icing the puck to help preserve a one goal lead. Jeff

That would be cool if it was more exciting....like X hockey!! Fighting, slashing, cross-checking is all legal

I prefer the open ice play and watching plays develop, and passing and such. When the teams really move the puck, I find that exciting. With the size of hockey players, if you made slashing and cross-checking legal and such, there would be way too many injuries. But to each their own. (I personally find X-Hockey boring) Jeff
