Doug, you didn't hang around a bunch of drugged out underground artist who thought the movie was a knock against 'the man'. The theme song was great, a teenage girl from Texas played guitar and taught me to sing it.

I saw these movies as a teen and thought they were outstanding! What could be better, one man standing up for what is right against all odds. Where can I see these movies again?

Santa baby...I was working the Broadway strip in SF and hanging out in the FILMORE and Golden Gate Park...saw Credence Clearwater Revival for 10 cents at Gino and Carlos and Blue Cheer and T-Rex at some dive the size of a drive up donut window...even those wasted fools knew he was a phoney. What was COOL was The Good The Bad And The Ugly...oh and 2001.

Yeah! Love those movies. Do you realize how long it took me to fully appreciate The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly? I actually knew you were in the city then Doug... viva la Mitchell Brothers and Clement Street!

Ohhhh.... I checked, you can call 'em Native Americans or American Indians, people from India are just Indians.

And people from America with ethnic roots in India are Indian Americans.

The one thing you can't beat is the arrogant yet classy line...
"I'm gonna take this foot and put in right in your mouth, and their ain't a thing you can do about it." You got to have stones to say something like that, and then do it.

I guess that Laughlin was/is just too political for some people (like Doug) to stand back and see the humor in it all. I'm weird, because my idea of a nice evening is to make some popcorn and watch Ninja Death I for the fifth time. But even that isn't as funny as Billy Jack.
The whole Freedom School thing is FUNNY. Heck, even if you truly believe in non-tradition forms of education, the Freedom School is FUNNY. Heck, even the name "Freedom School" is just dammed funny. Generally, people who take themselves extremely seriously are funny. Laughlin and wife are kooks who managed to hit a nerve with a single movie, and they have been milking it ever since. Kudos to them. I'd do the same thing. The difference, of course, is that I'd be laughing about what I "believed" in thirty-five years ago, but they're still keeping the faith. Keeping the faith is very funny to me. |

When I was a kid, people liked this because it was one of the very first martial arts movies (non shaw bros). The 'message' was just filler between the kicks.

2001 had it's moments of wonder...about 5 or 6 due to advanced computer use in spacehip movements.
It definately is a cure for insomnia. But the hippies went nuts over it. Me, I liked TGTBATU...still love it!

"Trial...." lost the good character actors, and was just awful (not the good actors could have saved it, but they could have helped. "BJGTW" was a mess. The LOL moment for me was Jean and the young girl doing their karate on the gang sent after them. Just awful.
