Thanks, Rod -- I'm always trying to figure out the simplest and best way to do things. The Café is a great place to share ideas, it's been very helpful for me as well, so I'm just trying to do the same.
I also got tired of stapling or taping those TCM sleeves!! One alternative to the plastic baggies that I also explored was the small manila paper coin envelopes. They are very durable and you can get them in various sizes, and one size is slightly bigger than a set of TCM cards. But they ran about 10 cents each, even in quantity, and on top of that, I'd still have to Scotch Tape or paste the template onto the envelope. That was way too much work for me, so the baggies took the day! I got the idea from the magic dealers, who are always selling their small items in exactly the same sort of plastic bags. SETH

Hello Seth:
Yes, most of the card tricks come in baggies now, I never realized that! Also I find great deals on plastic baggies at the dollar stores too, but never thought of using them for packaging. Thanks again Seth for the great tip. Also , keep trying on your new pitch item, I know you will hit just the right show and it will click!!! Keep us informed. ROD |

Can someone send me a copy? Thanks for ideas on packaging, I never would of thought of this. Do you think it would be a good idea to "re-package" the ole' Sam Adams Magic Cataplillar? Seth, when you will be releasing this new concept and packaging? I am very curious on what your doing.

Solrak -- I've never seen the S.S. Adams worms, but I understand that they are packaged in an opaque bag. I'm sure there were good reasons for this, but I think a clear package would be much more marketable, because the specs can see exactly what they are getting, and that it's the same as what you are demoing. The Squirmles and Magic Worms are packed in clear blister packs.
Another plus would be that the kids get to choose their own color, which is more important than you might think. Heck, you want your car in a particular color, why shouldn't a kid have his/her magic worm in a particular color, too? Plus, when I see that a kid/parent is on the edge of buying one, I always ask "What color do you like?" Now they are not thinking any more about whether they want to buy one, but which color worm they want. It's sort of like giving them "permission" to buy it. So investing in some clear zip-lock sandwich bags might be a real good move! SETH

BTW, I wasn't trying to hype up this new idea I had for a pitch item, and I didn't think people would get so excited about it. I guess it's the mystery of the unknown!
Anyway, let's wait and see if it moves this weekend. I have another Harvest Festival in a new location -- supposedly much greener pastures, according to some fellow vendors who have worked it before. If it does well, I'll gladly make the info and sleeve template available to one and all. But I don't want anybody chasing after a certified dud! SETH

Hey Don,
Thanks! Like I said in the PM, I might have very well mis-placed it, but I don't recall in getting one. I think I assumed that it was on the DVD and I could just print it out. I sent you the my info... Hey Seth, You have that right, so I think I am going to do that, can provide me some details on how to do that so it looks professional? I layed out 3 different worms which made the them more attractive (can't see through Sam Adam's bags); and I got requests for certain colors. So I think this is a great option. I don't know why Sam Adam's chose the opaque envelope because I think their worm is of good quality. Thanks again...

I've never used a baggie for a Squirmle, but if I did, I think I'd get some card stock, which is a little thicker than regular letterhead. Staples or Office Depot carry it. Then I'd probably divide the page into quarters, and put the same graphics or instructions on each quarter.
Copy that master onto yellow or goldenrod color stock, then cut it into quarters with a paper cutter. Now each copy makes four stiff backers for four of your worms! Put the backer and the worm in the baggie, and the specs can still see the worm, but the backer shows it off and helps the baggie hold its shape. You may have to play around with the size of the baggie and the backer, I'm just making a guess that this would fit. You might be able to get six or maybe even eight to a page. SETH

Yes, sir, Don, I promise!! Just saw the weather report, which says it's supposed to be 76 degrees and sunny on Sunday, so I'm hoping for a good day and some very "green pastures." Just got the vendor list for the show and there are more than 200 vendors and food concessions, so there should be tons of people.
And I agree, good or bad, on Monday everyone will get to see the new item, and I will be glad to e-mail the Adobe file of the sleeve template to anyone who PM's me with their email address. Just raise your hand and we'll get to you as soon as we can (oops, sorry, wrong pitch!) I just finished wrapping up the last 30 pieces, and the bright yellow sleeves look very snazzy, if I do say so myself. I worked up a cute little routine for this item and have high hopes for it; at $3 it should make a good stocking stuffer. Like most pitch items, this one is certainly not new, it's probably older than the hills. But remember, with a new suit, even an old guy can look good. We'll see!! SETH
